Hello, native English speakers,
according to my dictionaries, "appreciate+someone" is grammatically wrong.
But here's a Youtube video "I appreciate you".

What do you think? Is it common to say "I appreciate you"?

Sensei!

We usually do NOT say, "I appreciate you." We usually say, "I appreciate what you do (for me)," "I appreciate what you have done (for me)," etc.

Please do not believe everything you see on YouTube.

It's common enough in usage. It's implied usually that you appreciate the person for something. "I appreciate you (for helping me cook breakfast)." etc. I would say it's used only when the context is extremely obvious.

Sensei!

I spotted an example of "I appreciate you..."

"I appreciate you giving me a second chance."

Please note that "you" is part of a (prepositional?) (関係代名詞?) phrase and is not a stand-alone noun.
