Gov't appoints computerized 'ambassador' for Japan ASEAN ties

Tokyo has appointed a 21-year-old woman created via computer graphics to serve as a goodwill ambassador in promoting exchanges between Japan and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and is asking the public to name her, the Foreign Ministry said Thursday.
The computerized woman will serve as a symbol of the "ASEAN-Japan Exchange Year 2003" and will promote commemorative events including the Japan-ASEAN Pop Music Concert to be held in Yokohama in December. [...]

A Japanese lady, created by computer graphics, has been appointed as a goodwill ambassador of Japan for ASEAN-Japan Exchange Year 2003.

She is 21 years old, born in 2003 from a PC. Her name will be announced shortly. As a symbol of the Exchange Year of Japanese side, she will play a role in increasing the awareness of the Exchange Year and its commemorative events including J-ASEAN Pops to be held in Yokohama.

Fantastic! Japan once again leads the way forward in non-threatening cross-cultural communication. If only the other countries could create the came we will have a UN staffed by manga personalities!
