Ok, let's try in english ^^ My teacher said today, that she has to leave early in 2 weeks (next week is a national holiday) and one of our transfer students (who is probably studying "Teaching Japanese as a foreign language") will do a Kanji Quiz with us in the remaining time...

Ah, ok. I believe I've got it now. Just one more question: next week is a national holiday in Austria, right? I haven't heard of a holiday in Japan next week....

yes ^^ as it is a christian (or maybe only catholic) holiday (Maria Empfängnis = Maria's Conception) Japan doesn't have it ^^ We usually don't get vacation on Japanese holidays...

The Holy Conception? Hmm... I'm trying to remember it now (I'm originally Catholic). It's not ringing any bells.

It might be a "german" thing... as swiss (I think), germany and austria also share the "Christkind" (which is supposed to be baby jesus, but looks more like a little angel ^^) ( instead of Santa Claus (though we have Santa Claus too, but he visits on the 6th december and brings sweets to the good kids... on the 5th december if you have been bad the "Krampus" (a devil like creature) comes and hits you...) 😊

Oh, I see. Come to think of it, my German friend keeps saying something about Santa Claus not really existing in Germany. Interesting how the same holiday has different versions (or at least I think so).

Ah, thanks for finding that, Kyoko! I got a bit lazy.... 😊
