Well, this is a most interesting thread! Let me throw in my two cents worth (adjusted after inflation):

---As most of you can probably guess, my real name is Jeffrey, though for some damn fool reason, people have mispelled it, Jeffery! AARRGGHHHH!!! Nothing drives me up a wall faster than that!

---I was born (1959), raised and still live in Philadelphia, PA, the cradle of liberty, the birthplace of America. BOO-YAHHH!!

---After high school, I joined the Navy so I could get to travel, and that was how I got to Japan, and the time I spent there remains the most enriching experience in my life and, in turn gave birth to my love for that amazing country, it's culture and people

---I'm 6-2 and weigh around 225, though I could stand to lose a few pounds here there

---I've been reading comic books ever since I was a kid, my all-time favorite superhero is Iron Man

---My hobbies include anime, manga, pop and rock music from the 60's through the 80's, my musical faves include Pink Lady, The Beatles, ABBA, The Rolling Stones, Cheap Trick, Billy Joel, Blondie, The Who, Wink, Shonen Knife

---My anime likes include shojo, giant robots, girls with guns, sci-fi, but the bulk of my collection features females as protagonists, I refer to this as "The Usagi Syndrome" as Sailor Moon kick started my passion for anime

---I'm a hideously early riser, often waking up around four a.m., sometimes earlier, weekdays, weekends, holidays and days off

---I hate to admit this, but I'm a hopeless couch potato, and with a 52 inch HDTV, I'm worse than ever, watching ESPN-HD, Discovery HD Theater daily along with my huge collection of anime and movies

---My TV habits include sports of all sorts, the History Channel, CSI, Law & Order, true crime shows on Court TV

---My movie tastes run the gamut from action flicks (Con Air, True Lies, Invasion U.S.A.); Sci-Fi (Star Wars, Star Trek); Japanese horror (Ringu, Ju-on, Tomie), monster movies (King Kong, Godzilla, THEM!, Tremors), historical (Tora! Tora! Tora!, Thirteen Days), superheroes (Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, X-Men), violent stuff (Dirty Harry, Sudden Impact, Pulp Fiction), war (The Longest Day, The Green Berets, The Dirty Dozen)

---I'm almost insanely patient, it takes a great deal for me to lose my temper. I guess that's a good thing

---I'm hooked on barbecue soy crisps, Amazin' Fruit gummi bears, Nutter Butter minis, Kool-Aid

---I'm a hopeless gadget freak, especially electronic doodads, I could spend hours wandering through Best Buy which is my second home

If I think of anything else, I'll let you know! Heh!
:-)

I can totally relate to that. I hate when people spell my name 'Carolyn', or pronounce it with a short 'i', or god forbid, call me Carol for short :angryfire:

You know, that doesn't bother me - my first boyfriend's mum used to call me Carrie and I quite liked it. My grandparents called me Cassie, but most people call me Caz - although I only tolerate it if they know me very well. I don't know why, it's just Carol that riles me!

To quote Bill Clinton, "I feel your pain". I don't ask for much from life, a roof over my head, a warm place to sleep at night, a full fridge, a job to put money in my pocket....AND THAT PEOPLE SPELL MY BLOODY NAME RIGHT!!! "Jeffery" started when I was in the Navy, and despite how many times I've told them that wasn't right, they kept right on doing it, for practically for the entire twenty years I served. And the tradition has continued in the ten years since I retired! Sheesh!!

I'm not bothered about my first name, but people always spell and/or pronounce my surname wrong, and although I'm used to it and therefore do tolerate it somewhat, it does bug me because I'm proud of my family... :-)
