It's media that creates the 1st group within there lies the problem. You hardly see the avg Japanese women in media it's only what is appealing that is mostly shown. We mind as well group them into the superficial category because it's basically the same principal.

Not that Japanese people themselves are ever to blame by encouraging their mates to be superficial, right ? Well, Damicci's girlfriend my be different... I only know in my case, he can be a little too encouraging of my cute and funny side, not that I'm usually very tempted to try to resist it either.... . I don't think whether it IS Japan's fault or not is the factor. It's more or less believing what you see. We encourage are people to be superficial too. And every japanese person that wants to date a foreigner b/c of some movie is just as guilty of it as all these hot in pants guys wanting some "submissive, child looking asian woman" I am not saying that is the case for all guys but I am sure that is a large reason why japanese women are "in demand". I have been with my girl for 4 years now. I invented the "asian chic craze" lol j/k

Besides these extreme cases, though, I think can be really difficult to define 'superficial' in relation to the Japanese....sometimes it appears like almost everything they do is that way and sometimes their whole way of being is a genuine concern and desire for friendship. I don't know, just that its a losing battle to analyze it too much in this thread.

But seriously though, i have even some friends that tell me they don't like asian girls, they are this and that, and they prefer that and this, but i just tell them that it don't matter cuz there are different kinds of girls in every ethnic group/race. So just as I feel that they are wrong, I also feel that liking only asian girls is not right, in an objective way. Nothing moral, just I feel having that kind of preference can't be good for you. So whenever I get into disagreemnents here I'm not trying to badmouth japanese/asian girls, i just wanna prove that essentially women are all the same, well not quite

But I think sometimes me doing that may annoy some people here, but whatever, this is a forum, opinions will clash, it's just important to keep it to a level of mutual respect and not go personal, a guideline that I myself have smuged a little at times, sorry about that :sorry:, but thankfully we haven't had things get nasty yet, this is still a very nice forum with some very nice people so let's keep it that way

However, this has always kinda bothered me with my current boyfriend. He has calendars that are very large that he hangs on the wall of race queens and Japanese models. Which would be alright if that was all that he had. But he also has over a gig of space on his harddrive full of pictures of girls, such as Ann Poonkasem (not sure what nationality she is) and Chisato Morishita. I'm not.. jealous or anything, and I know that he loves me but I feel really weird when all he looks at is asian women. I'm the farthest thing from asian you will ever come across, blonde hair and blue eyes, and very pale skin. But he's oogling over something completely opposite of the way that I look. I've asked him why he always looks at asian girls and stuff and he says it's because they look cool. Okay..
I don't know, I'm not looking for advice or anything. It slightly bothers me sometimes though. Makes me feel like I don't live up to his standards or something, and that really don't help the self esteem!
