I wonder what attacts people most in the opposite sex; which sense most strongly appeals to you ?
The traditional senses consists of five; sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell.
Some instances of preference are hard-wired into the helix, some culturally inherited in the family and or other enculturation, some newly created by peer pressure and other social interactions. For me, sound seems to be stronger than the other senses, but it can be a bit more complex than that.

In the modern sense, the whole brain surface can be mapped onto all the receptors; but some are not restricted to one single sense.
What about precise language, what about humor, what about decency and sense of justice or caring ?
It would be hard to pinpoint these complex senses onto a point on the cerebral cortex, or any combination of these, for they are something completely new.
Evolution has its interesting ways of playing with new gadgets; what about you ?

The only sense I could judge any member of the opposite sex by is sight, being the only real attraction (smelling a stranger? Restraining order ho! Touching would provide the same outcome...tasting would probably get me a kick in the nuts from the affected girl...and listening, well, that usually comes second after sight)

I don't think I'm attracted to girls for the more basic reasons you describe, although I don't fully understand your description of brain and reception. Attraction and what you describe, I think, are different. We judge our friends by the same means, precise language, humour, caring and sense of justice. My attraction to females is purely based on the hair, eyes, absence of facial blemishes, and a reasonably proportioned body (i.e. not over a certain body fat level).

Although what caused my attraction preferences is under no doubt, pop culture. See the film "Shallow Hal" for a decent explanation.
