I came here ___to see you.

a. particularly b. generally c. especially d. specially

The answer was "specially."
Does it also sound naturally to you if we say "particularly" or "especially" for the underline?

C is the only one that sounds natural to me. This may be an AmE vs other English difference.

I don't see a problem with using A,C or D. I wouldn't think twice about hearing any of those.

'Especially' sounds like the 'correct' word to me, I think 'specially' is just a contraction of that. Not that it matters much. 😌 'Particularly' also works and is 'correct' as well. :) IMO, the word order sounds more natural than Standalone's version but that could be just my personal take on it. :p

Either "particularly" or "especially" sounds right to me.

Nekocat.. don't worry too much about questions like these.. the differences are so small that any of those answers except for 'b' would be 100% fine in every day English. If there's some rule or logic involved no one knows or cares in the year 2007, except for the author of that question, who is most likely dead or well on their way.
