Geisha Movie

A year or two ago, I saw a trailer online of a movie I am dying to see. Sadly, I can no longer find the trailer nor the name of the movie. It was released sometime in 2006 or 2007 and is based on a Geisha (NOT Memoirs of a Geisha). It is a Japanese language movie and visually stunning. What I remember most is at one point in the trailer, she is walking along by some soji screens, cherry blossoms blowing by, and she is wearing a stunning golden kimono. I think the title started with an S, and it was a name, but because of the dreaded MoaG, it is impossible to find anything on the internet with Geisha without drowning in pages and articles for Memoris.

Can anyone help me?!?!?!

Very colorful movie and Anna Tsuchiya was great in it.

You can probably buy R2 or R3 DVD versions of the film via dealers like YesAsia.com

No, I know of Sakuran because I'm a huge fan of Anna Tsuchiya's. No, this was released after or around the time of Memoirs but before Sakuran.

Hmmm... this is a tough one. Are you sure you're not getting confused with SAYURI / 窶堋ｳ窶堙､窶堙ｨ which is the Japanese title of "Memoirs of a Geisha".

Nobuo Mizuta's comedy 窶｢窶倪?ｹWHaaaan!! (Maiko No Haaan!!) is a film about Geisha and came out after "Memoirs of a Geisha" and 窶堋ｳ窶堋ｭ窶堙ｧ窶堙ｱ but I don't recall any gold kimonos in that movie.

You might want to ask around over at the IMDB forums - "The I Need To Know" thread is pretty good at finding answers to questions about movies both US and foreign.

I appreciate your help, I'll try IMDB. It's not Sayuri and it's certainly not Maiko No Haaan because it didn't appear to be a comedy, but rather a cherry blossom soaked drama of a movie.

Thanks anyway. I'm not sure I'll ever find it; I just happened on the trailer the first time.

I know its probably not the movie you're looking for, but if you wanna see a good geisha movie then i'd recommend "The Geisha House"

It was just released in DVD format in Japan. She's not a geisha at all. She was one of Shogun HIdeyoshi's wives (concubine/mistress).

I know this isn't the movie you're talking about, but you'd probably love Yamazakura starring Rena Tanaka. It came out about a month and a half ago in Japan.
