Don't forget to check your request for friends list. Someone (like me,LOL) may be waitings with their fingers crossed , that you will OK their friend request. I've got 30 members I'm hoping to hear from on my list, WHERE ARE YOU????????

How exactly does the friend feature work?
I'm curious how it would manifest on a forum.
 
Something new has been added.

I guess it was just part of the new software update we just did. I think MySpace has about the same thing. I look at is as a new fad or gimmic to play with, but not all that important or meaningful? I think if you click on "My Settings" at the top left you will see a list on the left side that says "Networking" and under that "Contacts & Friends". You click on that to send out friend requests and to see your list of friends who have answered and ones you are waiting to hear from still. Since we lost the "Chat Room" in the new changeover, it gives me something to do when there are no new posts to read, LOL.

That's such a weird feature
I didn't even see it till 2 days ago I think...but somehow it looks like a facebook-like-feature
 
The new engine is teh win, its almost like a game, a weird rpg with all those functions lol.
IM BACK IN ATB GYARRR. (active time battle from FF, if someone isn't familiar with the abbreviation)

I still have about 15 "friends" who have not replied to my friend requests, LOL. Maybe I should have sent them certified mail ? Uncle Frank

 
Frank, I hope you are not spamming the members with requests haha.

I wonder what would happen when you have over 50 friends... maybe extra pm space.... anyone got any good idea?

I love everyone, LOL.

I based my requests on members that I talked with in chat and got to know a bit better. Then I added the high post members that I really respect for making JREF a great forum. Then I added staff to my list. One of the members who has not responded is J-Bot, wonder why, LOL. Friends are like money in the bank, you can never have enough.

PS = You know how us old people are with BAD memories. If I have forgotten to ask you to be my friend, don't be afraid to send a "friend request" to me!!

Not very sure if this new system is good, I feel more isolated and rejected now.
 
I'm not able to sign in to J-ref very often these days because of work...

LOL - but it really is work - I moved desks to a position where my boss's boss can see over my shoulder. Not great for J-reffing!

On the other hand, the insignificant other is the reason why I'm only commenting on 'serious discussions' and 'chit chat' topics when I am here - because I haven't had time to keep up with Japanese language and music in my 'spare' time, so haven't got anything to say on those subjects. Hopefully that will change soon, as (this weekend!) the office is moving near me, and will be less travelling spent between both of us!

I didn't know of the friend thing until a few days ago but i've accepted every request now- I think i'm going to send out some requests of my own now .

Edit: Stupid question i know (doh!), but how do i add people as friends??

Click on someone's profile and then you will see on the right side a block with friends... under the small avatars are 2 links: Befriend (name), and show all friends... Click Befriend and you will become a friend if the other person will accept your offer.

I noticed the friend feature. Even though I haven't been on the forums lately, I think it's cool.
 
Bad feeling.

It does make you feel funny when you send someone a "Friend Request" and they don't reply. You wonder if they just don't know about the new friend system yet , OR... they don't want you for their friend?

I have about 15 on hold that I hope will send an OK, but not yet? Most of them have not been on-line since the JREF up-date that added the "friend" thingy, so I don't think they know about it?
