Do you give Rating to threads

Do you give Rating to threads?

Threads can have stars from 1 up to 5 stars. Do yo use them, and what does a thread make good?

Maybe this can be a thread to give tips or something , on how to improve the making of threads, because there is a LOT of b-**** sometimes, and some great threads don't get enough attention, but can be viewed more by rating them...

So please what are the Do's and Dont's for making a thread...

I have rated threads a few times when I thought they were excellent topics and wanted to read as many posts as possible.

I do think giving stars to a thread help catching the eyes of people although some threads are good by themselves.
I like having that option to help draw attentions on the threads I think are important.

I dunno how to even rate threads? I do rate posts though from time to time, have been doing more so recently.
The problem with rating threads though i think is that if somone gives it a low or average rating then no one will look at it.

well, when 8 people give 2 stars, and only 2 give 5 stars, it means that the thread just isn't that interesting, but yeah just what Misa says too. when people give ratings, it is more because a thread is good, rather then it is bad.

I would be willing to for something that was extreme one way or the other -- either really, really dumb or outstanding -- but didn't know anything about the mechanics of how it worked. So the number of stars is the average of all ratings, assuming more than one of different numbers have been given ?

Above the first post of every thread on the right, there is a Rate thread button.

This does not work in the Chit chat section.

Yeah, since they are there in the Chit Chat subfora....that was what confused me initially. But whatever, I'll do it where it's possible should have been a poll option.

I know about the rating system but I still haven't gone ahead to rate posts or threads yet. It's just that when I log online after reading the new posts I only have time to post a few posts then I got to go already. Actually there are some very good posts in here and very good threads in here, I will try to do more in the future, I take this opportunity to thank those who gave me good ratings I only know about this recently because I change my avatar.

I usually just read threads then post replies but I never thought of rating threads.
