Do foreign soldiers in Afghanistan have honor?

Wanting to kill Taliban commanders, they just go ahead and kill his relatives too. Now that is honor!

dude - seriously.

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but the world is not a happy happy fluffy place.

want to know why despite being a massive US ally the Saudi's don't get **** from the taleban?

Because the family's of the senior commanders are all living there, and are being monitored. and it's a very simple case of. touch us and we kill your family. leave us alone and they get to live.

I dunno - I'm mostly staying out of this thread because it's kinda going in circles,

you have a really wierd almost childlike view of the world.

In your world view it's as if there are no bad people in the world.

As if those who have the personality to attain power do not wish to cling on to it. that the world is fair. that money and resources are spread evenly. that everyone that is born into the world has an equal chance.

let me ask you something.

IF the taleban and ISAF had their militarry powers some how swapped.

and they were the most dominant military force in the world, able to strike and invade practically any country of their choice and control whole regions of the globe simply being having the force majority despite being thousands of miles from home.

Do you think they would behave any differently?

it's not even limited to the taliban...

if the president of equador found some kind of magical alien technology that made all his soldiers and himself completely invincible and increased the power of their guns 10,000 fold...how long before equador spread it's wings and took over all of south america - then america...then why stop there.

ITS HUMAN NATURE

ITS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE NATIONS.

IT IS THE PART OF THE FORCE RESET THAT HAPPENS FROM TIME TO TIME IN A NATIONALIST WORLD SYSTEM

no one is saying that the president of Equador is a bad person.

but if he had those kind of capabilities, wouldn't he be doing his citizens and his people a diservice if he didn't make use of them?

So what you are saying is that I should just shut up and accept the slaughter of innocent children because its human nature? If its human nature, there is just nothing we can do but over-look it? Laws and morals are hopeless, useless wastes of time and energy?

Are you aware of how hard it is to press the 'reply with quote' button on a couple of posts that clearly have "Tamayo" underlined and in bold in the corner and get to the arguments in each of your posts? Look, it's totally not fair that you expect me to give you the evidence for my extremist beliefs, or to even keep replying to an argument I started even in spite of the fact that I'll just keep posting stuff here any how. I just don't have the time to argue with you, much less cite the non-existent credible sources that only I have access to! Who cares if I'm the one who made the thread?

You're so blind, Tamayo! You're so blind, and you can't see the truth!

Alright, alright. I guess I was too pushy with you, man. I'm sorry. I'll stop asking you for your sources. You win. *hugs*

Tamayo, I usually insist that teenagers deserve respect and should be treated as adults. You are doing a good job of changing my mind.

I have answered some of your questions in replies to others. I do not know if you read or absorbed those. I CAN'T know. And I don't want to start answering questions you already know my answer to. I want to get this thread out of the cycle of going in circles. I am offering you an opportunity to have your questions answered but just at a slower and more careful and methodical way than before so as to avoid all this rage going both ways and avoid going in circles again.

Just put your knives down please and make a decision if you want to continue this discussion or not. Because I don't avoid questions. I never did. People who know me better can attest to that.

Shouldn't we try to change human nature like War and Greed ?
And about Taleban, They never go to another nation to fight..Since they seized the power in Afghanistan they controled 95 or less from Afghanistan...i know why you hate them, And you know why i hate your system, Taleban is one million times cleaner than some demo-cratic system that God knows how many people they killed.

And about Taleban, They never go to another nation to fight.

Not until the U.S. invaded. Then they started going to Pakistan and taking territory there...but...your point remains still. The Taliban are not invading and meddling with countries all over the globe...the U.S. is.

Taleban is one million times cleaner than some demo-cratic system that God knows how many people they killed.

For myself I have no idea how many either of them killed. If there is a God, maybe even He doesn't know. What I know for sure is though, that the U.S. has killed far more innocent people than the government, military or CIA ever even come close to admitting. And while people bark at me for clear proof of that, they never bother to ask for proof of how many women Imperial Japan made into sex slaves whenever I bring that up. They just accept the numbers and thank God its not their country on the end of the hook. By that measure and more, I can smell the hypocrisy and nationalistic delusion...and it smells like fermented cow manure.

lol whut?

I think a cetain Jalaluddin Haqqani might have something to say in disagreement on that matter.

@Hezam

you are right - it is human nature - and i am by no means a fan of media-dictatorships - or democracy to give it it's more common name.

I think zorro thinks all wars should be fought like this:

20237british_waterloo_watermarkedk_thumb.webp

because surely by his definition.

wearing cammo - no honour
using sniper rifles - no honour
using inteligence - no honour

****it lets just all go back to using sticks and stones eh. and we'll take a count before any war just to make sure that the numbers are completely even.
after all we wouldn't want one side to have an advantage over another - where would the honour be in that?

I think zorro thinks all wars should be fought like this:

Away from civilians. Yes. What the hell is wrong with that?

I am good with camo, sniper rifles and intelligence gathering. I am against bombardment of cities and the destruction of schools, houses and religious buildings. I am against killing families and children to take out one man. I am against killing people who have not been properly identified as combatants.

In short, I just agree with the Geneva Convention. What the hell is your problem with it?

I think a cetain Jalaluddin Haqqani might have something to say in disagreement on that matter.

And you too I guess. But what the hell it is, I cannot say. It was pretty clear what I was talking about. Why can't you be clear?

Is this what you mean?

In October 2001, Haqqani was named the Taliban's military commander. He may have had a role in expediting the escape of Osama Bin Laden. With his base in Khost under repeated American air attack, it is believed that in November or December of that year he crossed the Durand Line border into the Waziristan region of Pakistan.

Jalaluddin Haqqani - Wikipedia

So yeah, like I said, the Taliban stayed in Afghanistan until the U.S. invaded.

Your hatred of me I understand, pathetic as it may be. Your non-acceptance of fact I do not understand.

Brute force war would end in far more casualties than we've seen in centuries.

This is why fighting enemies with terrorist tendencies is problematic -- they allow their wars to infect their country's rural areas by hiding among innocent people and putting them in danger instead of surviving by their own means. This sort of thing is exactly why we need advanced technology and tactics in war.

Huh? What is "brute force war"?

This is why fighting enemies with terrorist tendencies is problematic

Terroristic tendencies? Do you just invent words as you go?

We are talking about guerrillas.

they allow their wars to infect their country's rural areas by hiding among innocent people and putting them in danger instead of surviving by their own means.

A nice slant on the fact that even guerillas have families. American soldiers also leave war zones and bases and go visit families. Would it be okay to blow up their houses just so long as they are in them? Or is it double standard time again already?

This sort of thing is exactly why we need advanced technology and tactics in war.

No. This is why we need to stay the hell out of the civil wars of other countries...and also not invade them out of spite...so that the population will not turn guerilla.

Huh? What is "brute force war"?

It's the way countries used to wage war, hundreds of years ago where two armies would just slam into one another manually. They called it "fighting like gentlemen" when they'd agree to a day and location far from civilians where they'd battle it out with no "unfair" advantages like surprise attacks and cheap tactics. Although I really admire the idea, I couldn't realistically hope for it to ever happen again since war like that has often ended in way more casualties than necessary and no country these days will have that.

Terroristic tendencies? Do you just invent words as you go?

We are talking about guerrillas.

I said terrorist, not terroristic. And yeah, I suppose I left out guerrillas. My bad.

A nice slant on the fact that even guerillas have families.

I never said that they didn't. Even terrorists have families. What I don't understand is why they'd make the conscious decision to hide among their families in times of war when they know they're putting them in danger.

American soldiers also leave war zones and bases and go visit families. Would it be okay to blow up their houses just so long as they are in them? Or is it double standard time again already?

I've underlined what part of your statement sets American soldiers apart from the people our country fights in the middle east. There is no double standard here. Our people have a place to go to when they're not waging war because they'd never allow it to come anywhere near their homes. Our soldiers don't hide among their families. They come back to their families after touring in wars. That's a gigantic fundamental difference here. Using women and children as moral shields is a vile and disgusting war tactic, and is among the central reasons why these wars take so long. If America really didn't care about the innocent they're putting in danger, we'd have nuked the place and been done with it.

No. This is why we need to stay the hell out of the civil wars of other countries...and also not invade them out of spite...so that the population will not turn guerilla.

I can agree with you to some extent about staying the hell out of other people's countries. After all, we have more than what is necessary to wage a huge war if the whole middle-east suddenly declared war. Beyond that, I understand the way imperialism works and can't say I could ever agree with the way America treated other countries when it first came into the top 5 power range. I still think it's important to "put out small fires before they get out of control" though. Sure, a lot of the wars America finds itself in might seem like they're an interest because they can be economic partners with America in the future, and that's definitely a plus -- That's not the reason we go to war, though. The idea is to keep small situations from escalating into fullscale world wars.

Although I really admire the idea, I couldn't realistically hope for it to ever happen again since war like that has often ended in way more casualties than necessary and no country these days will have that.
When I speak of honor and fighting on battlefields, why do you assume I mean to line up on flat ground and take volleyed shots at eachother?
I don't see how fighting on proper battlefields ends up with more casualities. For example, WWI there were a hell of a lot of casualites. But it was not for fighting on a battlefield with clear uniforms and armies. It was because they were making suicide charges against machine guns.
In WW2 there were still plenty of battlefields. Did more people die on them than in the town fighting that occured or by the bombardment of cities, by any measure, such as per capita?
Surely more civilians got killed that way, but did fewer soldiers? Are you saying soldiers lives are worth more than civilians? Or are you trying to say that by attacking towns and cities, overall deaths will be fewer? How can you know that?
I said terrorist, not terroristic. And yeah, I suppose I left out guerrillas. My bad.
I quote you and you say you did not say it???
What I don't understand is why they'd make the conscious decision to hide among their families in times of war when they know they're putting them in danger.
HIde? Why do you say hide? These guys don't have military bases to live on. They live at home or in the field.
Would you prefer they just gather out in the open and sleep in tents? Wouldn't that be inviting death by airstrike?

See above. You really think that men with no other place to go to sleep and eat are in their own homes as a war tactic??

But you did not answer my most important question. You know, when Taliban guerillas go home, they are home. When they go out in the field, they are out in the field. Its the same with American soldiers. So when American soldiers go home, is it fair dinkum to blow up their houses?

Do you really think Afghanistan was about preventing a larger war?? Can you name any such war in recent history that could be legitimately decribed as preventing a larger war, and that being the intention from the start? Is there some crystal ball out there I am not aware of to determine this?

war like that has often ended in way more casualties than necessary and no country these days will have that.

I suppose I better ask this separately to ensure its not mistaken as a rhetorical question. Are you saying that fighting in towns in villages instead of places away from civilians is okay, because you think it will end in less casualites?

If that's not what you mean, then what exactly DO you mean? There isn't much of a gray area between that and the way war is waged now.

I don't see how fighting on proper battlefields ends up with more casualities. For example, WWI there were a hell of a lot of casualites. But it was not for fighting on a battlefield with clear uniforms and armies. It was because they were making suicide charges against machine guns.

It is true that many of the casualties came about as a result of poor choices on how to handle the advent of newer technology that fueled the fire in WW2, but the biggest reason was that war was far more blatant in those days. We don't wage flat out war like that anymore. These days, acquiring small bits of sensitive intel is of the same importance as winning a key battle in the old days. Like I said -- The development of world-wide agencies like the CIA was intended to do some crowd control and handle situations long before they would ever gain momentum. Economic super-giants cannot afford to go starting wars and and stirring the pot without causing problems among allies. This sort of "everyone on everyone's side" idea is what they had in mind a long time ago during industrialization.

I quote you and you say you did not say it???

Read what I said. Carefully. You'll see what I was saying.

Hide? Why do you say hide? These guys don't have military bases to live on. They live at home or in the field.
Would you prefer they just gather out in the open and sleep in tents? Wouldn't that be inviting death by airstrike?

No more so than they already do on their own families. You'd think that extremists who care at all about their families would at least have the decency to relocate them, or to hide away from them to keep them safe.

You really think that men with no other place to go to sleep and eat are in their own homes as a war tactic??

It is, actually. Remember, I was originally talking about terrorists and you're the one who brought up guerrillas. This sort of behavior isn't exclusive to terrorists. Vietnam is a great example of that. (For example, having children work as bomb runners in the middle of the night)

But you did not answer my most important question. You know, when Taliban guerillas go home, they are home. When they go out in the field, they are out in the field. Its the same with American soldiers. So when American soldiers go home, is it fair dinkum to blow up their houses?

Would you kindly point out the difference between the home and the field for them? It's not like we wait for them to be home in their pajamas to go attack -- they house their operations right in the middle of cities and towns, and there's nothing that can be done about that if they (the guerrillas) don't care about the horrific consequences for the people they're surrounded by.

Do you really think Afghanistan was about preventing a larger war?? Can you name any such war in recent history that could be legitimately described as preventing a larger war, and that being the intention from the start? Is there some crystal ball out there I am not aware of to determine this?

No, I'm not claiming that everything done these days is efficient (Look at the Taliban, after all). What I was trying to get across is that you can't count people out for using advanced technology to keep themselves safe. These days, the fuel is intel and decisive, tactical strikes. Sometimes that means running a recon mission with a few drones. Sometimes it means dropping paratroopers in from the upper edge of the atmosphere to set up camp and snipe key targets. I never said that we can't participate in larger wars. It's just the the focus has shifted from brute force to intelligence.

Think about it -- If intelligence could have prevented 9/11, are you sure we'd have gone to war there, at least anywhere near to the extent which we did?

I suppose I better ask this separately to ensure its not mistaken as a rhetorical question. Are you saying that fighting in towns in villages instead of places away from civilians is okay, because you think it will end in less casualites?

No. I actually do believe in a more honorable way of fighting deep down, unrealistic as it may be. In regards to fighting in cities, I'll say that armed forces have little choice. I'm sure your immediate thought will be "Of course they have a choice, they could just stay the hell out of the country to begin with!", but bear with me. I'm sure we could both agree that it makes sense for there to be high-priority targets for the government. These targets pose a huge threat to our country for one reason or another. If and when intel suggests we have a small window of opportunity to wipe those targets out, we literally have no choice but to draft the most efficient plan, storm in, and hope for the cleanest, most surgical removal of the threat. I'd be willing to bet money that if you were to ask any of the Navy Seals in on that operation about it, they'd tell you that they'd prefer not to have done it in a city, or a home for that matter. However, there was nothing that could be done. As soon as it was confirmed without a doubt that Osama was within their grasp, there was nothing that could be done but to take a very careful shot at it.

In regards to less casualties, I'll say this: I've been talking a lot about all of the intense training that our troops go through, and it's not just so that they can be vicious, killing machines. It's so that they can make a split-second decision as to whether or not someone is a friend or foe. This sort of training is documented a lot during wars against less advanced armies including and especially when it comes to special operations like the raid on Osama's compound. What I've been trying to tell you this whole time is that this war is taking forever because we're not just storming in and killing everyone indiscriminately. I said some time ago that if the the higher ups didn't value the innocent lives that are being put into danger over there, this war would have been over almost instantaneously.

Do you really think Afghanistan was about preventing a larger war?? Can you name any such war in recent history that could be legitimately decribed as preventing a larger war, and that being the intention from the start? Is there some crystal ball out there I am not aware of to determine this?

Pretty much every war of western involvement of the last 30 or so years.

We are the rich, we are the powerful - we want things to stay that way.

No, foreign soldiers in Afghanistan are a filthy breed of subhumans. Especially the americans.

The afghans have the same right to ethnically cleanse their lands of american invaders the same way we swedish will one day cleanse our land of arabs, persians, negroes and other unwanted elements.

This sort of opinion is right up there with macrobiotic's support of ethnic cleansing.

I sure hope his stupid opinion was not the reason for his banning, while the other guy gets away with equally vile statements.

Hell, at least targeting someone's race in a specific country is less random and gives people a chance to escape. Meanwhile 7stars favors attacking people in their own country to make sure they stay down. Crap man. These two are peas in a pod. One just used stronger language.

How so? I don't see the relation between Macrobiotic's advocation of systematic ethnic and racial cleansing and the way the world economy works.

That's a giant load of strawmanship if I've ever seen it.

Are you implying that we're purposely targeting and killing innocent people over there, or that enemies are somehow exempt from wars if they decide to wage it on their doorsteps? Because both of those are extremely radical and laughably unrealistic ideas in themselves.

Tamayo, Taliban do not want to come and invade your nation..AlQaeda does.
Have you asked your self : why did we "your nation" invade other nations ?

Because the Taliban gave political asylum to Al Qaeda. Seems pretty clear that they were happily harboring terrorists.

Ayman al-Zawahiri - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
From Wikipedia:
In early November 2001, the Taliban government announced they were bestowing official Afghan citizenship on (Al-Zawahiri), as well as Bin Laden, Mohammed Atef, Saif al-Adl, and Shaykh Asim Abdulrahman.

Very few nations would proudly home self-proclaimed terrorists, regardless of the politics.
