i dunno, yuri doesnt appeal to me as much as yaoi, maybe its because the first and only yuri i've read was very badly written...T_T but it is cute, girl x girl, ne? ^^

lol i think boy x boy is just hot, it's one of those things that comes natually when you're human. the girl x girl ones are pretty much all hentai, ne? T_T but girl x girl romance can be cute as well! ^_________^

haha. Wow, it´s hard to explain. Ummm, I just like the idea of two boys
"being friendly" with eachother... lol
I mean, usually in anime and manga, those guys are REALLY hot, and the only thing thats better than ONE hot guy is TWO - know what I´m talking about?

Besides, these boy x boy mangas/anime are usually sooo cute and really romantic, and the story is soo good. Its both hot and really good!

waah. I can´t seem to find the right words to explain. (I´ll think about it...)

I said it before and I'll say it again, two boys engaging in sensual pleasure is something to behold.

Yuri isn't my thing, either. I don't know why, it just isn't. I wonder if yaoi is more common in anime and manga.

I haven't really looked at yuri, but even if I did I still think I'd like yaoi better..since you guys like the school themes I suggest Passion..I think its only 2 mangas long, but I liked it..I still have to try and find the second one though, but I agree that boyxboy is more appealing than girlxgirl...not in all cases though, but most of the time ^^

No, it´s really not something ALL girls like. Most dont even know what YAOI is, at least no one I know. The only people I know where I live who like manga and anything japanese are all boys! And they are into hentai, if something. As far as I know, I´m the only girl in my city that likes YAOI. I´m so lonely!

Anyways, too bad not many girls have discovered the beautiful world of YAOI/Shonen-ai. I´m sure they all could like it if they tried!

yeah, people tend to react in wierd ways when I tell them about YAOI, too. Most just think its wierd and get disturbed even (as you said) They tell me its wrong and all...
I dont know a single person who likes YAOI (except on the internet) not even my friends are into it.
I just cant understand why people feel this way about boy x boy! But its really interesting, it has really made me realize how narrow-minded some people in my surroundings are.

the same thing happens to me..atleast my friends like yaoi so I don't feel soo left out..they usually let me borrow or tell me about series..I'm pretty sure that yaoi is popular in Japan..I'll ask my Japanese friend about it tomorrow..I need read more yaoi manga series..I've mostly been reading fanfics lately, but they're good too ^^

Yaoi is a big business over in Japan, as a matter of fact. You'd be surprised how much it attracts women. Most of the people I know seem to think it's aimed at homosexual males, not saying that they can't enjoy yaoi. But it's really for women and by women.

YAOI is really REALLY popular in Japan, and soo many women read it; people our age, but also women in their late 50s, hehe. everyone.
Boy x boy is not considered strange or offensive in the same way as in western countries, and this manga genre is much more common. If you go to the women section in the stores that sell manga, there is gonna be a LOT of YAOI and shonen-ai related series.
Even the manga that aren´t labeled as YAOI (which tends to be more hardcore) sometimes include elements of boy-love, might only be hints, but its easy to find in many, many manga series.
I have even been able to find shonen-ai elements in childrens manga, manga that REALLY shouldnt have it... hehe.
Besides, as Miz said; the male ideal of many japanese women (and men?) is the feminine, frail, beautiful boy. (And thank god for that!!)

I might sound like an idiot, trying to be an expert, but on this subject I´ve asked ALL of my japanese friends, so this is what they told me. rant...

Oh, just one thing: Just because I said YAOI is popular in Japan, doesn´t mean ALL japanese women like it... There are offcourse those who think it is wierd and sick also. Just saying its more common than in the west...
