I've never realy had an interest in music thats in japanese. Everytime I hear "J-pop" I think of some crazed anime nut and the asian equivilant of "Brittany Spears" that they worship, (no disrespect but I like being popular.) Whats a good Japanese band thats not all make-ya-wana-puke-happy-pink-bunny-like. I grew up listening to stuff like Green Day, Sum 41, Social Distortion, Rancid, My Chemical Romance, Thrice, etc. Are there any that are like that?

Sweet another poser! Just joking man...hhahaha.

Check out Mongol 800, And definately D[di:]
You might like Flow, and 175R. Punk music in Japan is usualy considered Indie. Wierd...o well though.

look them up at Yesasia.com or send me an "if" you know what I mean e-mail (in my profile)

There are others that I am just getting into, but I dont have there names.

You like Guttermouth?

It's actually "poseur", not "poser"...

As for the actual topic, hmmmm, I really have no idea. I don't know whether I even listen to J-Punk or whatever it is. I kinda gave up on the categorizing thing quite awhile ago...

lmao Horizon! you and your poseur... :-)

ok, first, j pop doesnt not = Britney Spears. really, do some research and you'll see the difference. second, wats wrong with a pink bunny? *never seen one* but it sounds cool. third, i can already tell that you're one of those "i-will-not-accept-new-music-because-only-the-ones-i-listen-to-are-good" person *has met countless ones* so im not sure if you'll ever accept j music because it's pretty different. i dont know if there are j-punk bands, since it seems that you only like punk, but there are j-rock bands. none of them really sounds punk, all of their music are really unique, but if you like pop punk such as Sum 41 and Green Day, maybe ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION migh suit your liking? ☝

(omg i cant believe i just compared ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION to Sum41 and Green Day T_T)

The thing wrong with Happy-Pink-Bunny is the fact that it's happy... It should be more like Evil-Bloodshot-eye'd-Pink-Green-Spotted-Bunny-with-a-fake-halo.

Actualy, the reason I've never listened to it is because I didn't understand Japanese and if i listen to music I wana know what they're saying. (that and the radio doesnt play J-pop/punk/rock). I'm taking classes though, so I was thinking now that I know a few words here and there it might help to listen to some. Nothing against other music if it rocks, but from the term "pop" not very many good things come to mind (from what I read also I was thinking that J-pop and J-rock were almost completely two different worlds) So it's not as if i'm saying I don't like J-Pop... It's just that I hate mainstream pop with a passion. (the old stuff anyways, some of the new stuff that try to be pop/alt rock is good).

Whatever the case is as long as is fast, hard, and has the *Scream untill my eyes bleed verse* or it's the type of music that you can pass out to then i'm ok with it.
And thanks for the links... I'll check em out after I crash for a few. (Been up for the last 36 hrs, Double Shift)

(Oh, And I am not "Poser Punk Rock"... I'd have to try to be punk first for that. I'm more like the "Suisidal Alt Rock/Neo Punk", but the wierd thing about that is that I like hard rock too... (Metalica, Godsmack, Social D, Bad Religon etc.). Good thing I just listen to the radio... I'd be broke trying to buy all those albums...

If you like that kind of music, than maybe Dir en grey, D'espairsRay, Nightmare, et cetera. They're hard rock and they scream a lot (or at least Dir en grey does. Haven't listened to enough of the others to know if they scream all the time or not)

Well, yeah. Originally (meaning before morons started using it), "poser" was actually someone who poses, like, say, a model. "Poseur" is the correct term for the lifeless, originality-and-personality-lacking, moronic clones.

(omg i cant believe i just compared ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION to Sum41 and Green Day T_T)

It's okay. It could've been worse. You could've compared them to Good Charlotte or Brittany Spears (although how that last one works out there...) 😌

i've compared GC with Britney? o.O how strange of me...

hey i dont understand a lot of japanese either but that doesnt stop me from listening to j music, you can get lyric translations on the internet. plus radio sucks these day so i odnt even listen anymore.

suicidal punk? meaning songs about suicide? god, are you another wrist-cutter? anyways then you wont like asian kung-fu generation at all... the things is, j pop is not wat you think it is. it varies a lot. asian kung-fu generation would probably be considered pop punk in north america, but in japan it's jpop. D'espairsRay has a "suicidal" song, Garnet. i remeber hearing the verse "i want to die" or something. Dir en Grey has some good screaming in some songs, like ZAN. seriously, maybe you should open up to songs of more variety, not just "im-so-depressed-and-i-want-to-die" songs. those are WAY to common. jrock has A LOT of varieties in the songs, you just have to find them yourself. it'll be better for your health...

oooooooooooooo Guitar Wolf. I have one song of there's. UFO. It's pretty good. But I just listent to some of their newer stuff. One hell of an album. Lots of distortion in it. coo~~~~l.

LOL everyone.

Consider J-pop. J-POPular. The popular stuff that everyone likes.

But we're all poseurs. :D Just face it.....hahaha. But there is nothing wrong with that!

I suggest visiting that website link I gave ya and check out some of the bands. SOme of the best hardcore punk underground bands out there. Specially your type....maybe.

I'd think you might be better off listening to some D[di:] look it up on Amazon or yesasia. Read her lyrics and listen to her music. Angel Meat Pie anyone? hehe

He you just dont want to listen to it anymore, then I suggest sticking with:
NOFX
1208
Guttermouth
98-Mute
Tsunami
The F-ups
F-Minus....etc...etc....etc

Huh, "My Type"? Who said that was me? Just on Tuesdays and Thursdays... on Mondays I'm Hyper, Wednsdays are Psychotic-like-fake-happy, then Fridays are the Drunken Twilight Zone Special. Weekends I reserve the right to be as wierd as I feel, sooo There! I am Unclassifiable! Strangly Depressed and Oddly Hyper at the same time in my own little way. As for the music, what do you guys listen to if you want to hear a song or a group before you up and buy the album?

(there's some new stuff that could be classified as punk, but they realy just look like all the suisidal people I used to hang around in highschool. Of course I was never realy one to like kill myself or anything, but I did tacke the school mascot. But if you think thats wierd you shoulda seen the surfer-type people it's like a 24/7 4/20 with them. Oh and oddly enough its kinda funny but it's more like the, "Whether to suffer the slings and arrows-" suisidal feeling AKA, if "I die is it gona be worse" ya know... when you hear that some one did something that you admire but you could never do the same thing because you are too wired on caffine and you like to keep your eyes, but you would if you could type feeling.)

Hmm... If a poser is some one who tries to look like something they aren't, and there was a person who tried to look like a poser what would that make them? Because if they tried to look like a poser then how could they be what they tried to look like if to do so would make them the real deal, since of course being the real thing would make them not a poser.

ok that was confusing. who made the word poser to discribe ppl who arent themselves? man, poseur=model is so much simpler. and yes, in a way everyone is a poser. you cant be yourself all the time...

ugh, there are "suicidal" people at my school, and they wine everyday about how their lives suck and they're gonna kill themselves by silting their wrist. and then i tell them: cutting ur wrist only has 5% success rate(i read that one a Due le Quartz page ^^) they do it anyway but dont die. if they REALLY wanted to die, they would have chosen MUCH more effcient ways. watch Suicide Club and get some ideas.

back on topic, is Guitar wolf good? any songs you wanna recommend?

At a younger age I would say that I was more wild than I am now.

But as you get older you have more responsibilities. Sucks sometimes but the ladies love it...hahaha. But there is always a time to go all out wierd and what not.

As for Guitar Wolf, the only song I fully heard was UFO. I would suggest it, but their samples from the new album sound awsome! Give it a go!

LOOK! It's me posing to be a poseur!

It is the New Year season in the lunar calendar , so I am sure you feel like Beijing punk.
HANG ON THE BOX

Sister/Benten lables, mainly girls' punk bands, offer you lots of different bands. I like Lolita No.18. On March 3, we have Girls' Day, so you can check them out then.
SisterRecords&BENTEN ON-LINE

"the mad capsule markets" has a lot of fans outside japan, esp. in the UK.

You can find a lot of sites about Guitar Wolf. Just google "Guitar Wolf +mp3", and you can find more. It would be easier to find their songs except Japanese sites.

To BlackendEye
Forgot saying that "Guitar Wolf" would show their over 20 gigs in your country soon. I'm sure that your ID would be changed soon after their gig.

No...I was just saying you could've compare AFKG to Good Charlotte or Brittany *****...

And onto the "poser" thing...

-eyebrow twitches- IT'S POSEUR!!!!. Goddammit, how many times do I have to say it?!?!?

It's just one of my -coughmanycough- pet peeves, okay?

And onto the "can't be yourself all the time" thing, I digress. Of course you can be yourself all the time; it's not difficult. And a poseur is someone who pretends to be who they aren't really just for popularity and to be cool, so yeah...

And poser=one who poses; see model I suppose.

lol ah icic...

well actually its hard being your self all the time. like around adults, i behave like a nice little thing. which i am not. so ya.

Siiiigh.

I'm not familiar with Guitar Wolf's music, so I'm not sure if I want to go to the show in LA. Er, Hollywood. Maybe I can go to the one in Pomona. Anyway.

Anyone want to recommend some Guitar Wolf to me? I'm afraid of getting the **** kicked out of me since I've heard their lives described as sheer violence and insanity.

It's a little intimidating. Anyway...

Horizon: Both "poser" and "poseur" are correct. Just as "color" and "colour" are correct. "poseur" is the European spelling, from Old French. Makes sense that you use it since you live in Canada. Just don't make yourself look ignorant by picking that thing to pick on =)

I can't really recommend any songs as I only have one, but if you go to amazon.com and look them up, you can sample their music.

Yes, you are probably right about their gigs. But not all do moshing, diving, and surfing. Isn't it interesting enough to wonder why their music breaks the language barrier? They are so crazy that they went all the way to Argentina after they received just one fan letter.
It is a good chance to forget everything and feel the different Japanese music for couple of hours, even if you are more into J rock stuffs.

My favorite album is Jet Generation, but their newest one, Love Rock, is also nice.

Well...I don't find it particularly hard to be myself whatsoever. I'm loud, psycho, disrespectful, b*tchy, uncaring, uncompassinate et cetera, et cetera and I'm pretty much ALWAYS like that. Meh...-shrugs-

Oh really? I heard that "poser" just came around from people too stupid to use "poseur"...Meh. Whatever you say.

Not, me... I'm like split persona. When my parents are around I have to act a little. I think it's an asian thing. I remember growing up I was afraid of getting "C" 's in school for a loooong time. Dad woulda beaten the crap outa me. Finaly I just said f*** it and ditched school for most of my junior and senior year. Ran away a few times. Stood in front of an oncomming train just to see what their faces would look like, ya know that kinda stuff. So yeah, anyone can pull a 180, It's the American way. 😎

Oh and Dude, your argueing over the spelling of a word... O.o

Hollywood, eh...

-blinks- I'm so not a dude unless I'm more screwed up than I thought...And I'm easily annoyed is all...
