He is saying that your books are bad, not simple. Everyone starts of with no knowledge of the language, but thats no excues for buying ineffective books. Your main text should be the most essential part, and you were severely lacking there. Just from the title you can see that books like Japanese in 30 hours isn't aimed at someone actually trying to learn Japanese. However, since you bought Genki or JFPB you should be OK.
