Hi everyone !

I was installing vlingo on my android. It's somekind of a A.I.
Then I tough that it would be really awsesome if my phone could
say back my english or french talk to japanese. unfortunately
vlingo cannot do that :( (I think...)

But then, I tough why should it not be available in Linux ? (or windows)
This is a really fun idea isn't ?

Any tough about that ?
speech recognition + text2speech + A.I. = personnal tutor !!! :p

share your idea. If this idea is good for you, I will do the research to
build such a system. I have a desktop at home doing nothing.
plenty of hardware piece, plenty of time and some knowledge
in science computing.

OMG that would be so awesome !

reply back, hit me !

Machine translation to and from Japanese in its current state still produces a lot of nonsense, to the point that it's ridiculed at sites like TranslationParty. Also, smartphone apps that do voice recognition -> translation -> TTS are readily available for both Android and iOS.

Domo arigato Ianthas san !

I would assume that from a website, machine learning is at the beginning
I'm sure of that.I didn't tried translationparty. Will give it a try.
(you said "site" when refering to translationparty)

But I was talking about a dedictated PC in linux.
Let's the answers come in from the community
for a couple of weeks.
And we will see if I could give it a try.

I still have to choose a Linux flavor for that project.
then text2speech and voice recognition engine then
the front end.

That's a nice idea !

matane !!!

Give it a try. Major companies are investing lots of money and are not yet successful, but perhaps you'll figure out what they haven't. If you make it work well you'll be rich. Good luck!!
