Hello!

I've come across the following sentences recently:

明日暇だったら、京都へ行きませんか。
皆さん、暇があったら、是非東京へ遊びに来てください。
I'm wondering about 暇 used with the copula in the first sentence, and 暇 used with あります in the second.

Is 暇 an adjective modifying the subject 明日 in the first sentence?

Is 暇 being used substantively, i.e. as a noun, in the second sentence?

Does this explain the use of copula versus あります?

Thank you!

The subject of the first sentence is we or you (Shall we~?/Will you~?), and the subject of the first clause is "you", not 明日.

Two interpretation, noun and the stem of na-adjective, are equally possible for 暇 in the first one.
e.g.
部屋が静かだったら、音楽をかけてください。
彼が学生だったら、学校に連絡してください。

In the second sentence, yes, 暇 is a noun there.
