Hi

文法練習は、クラスでカバーした本文の範囲に合わせて口頭練習をさせたのち、宿題 として連し、提出させる。

I get as far as: "Regarding grammar practice, have (the students) do oral practice to match the scope of the text covered in class..."

Then I assume it's something about having the students hand in their homework, but I don't quite understand how として連し fits in. What does this last part mean?

連し doesn't make sense at all. I'm sure it's a typo/misread. ;)

Oops, sorry, it is actually:

... 宿題として課し、提出させる。

I still don't get it though. Could you explain?

課し is the -masu stem of 課す/課する.

〔割り当てる〕assign ((a task to a person))

先生は生徒にたくさんの宿題を課した
The teacher assigned [gave] his pupils a lot of homework.
