Hi,
How does どう勘違いしたか work? I understand that 勘違いした means "misunderstood", but I don't understand what embedding it in どう ... か means in this context.
I can grasp more or less what the sentence ought to mean, but I don't understand the construction of 偽物なら何がなんでも very well. Does it literally mean she was trying to work out "if it was a fake, (or) what it was"? Or "if it was a fake, (then) what was it (i.e. what sort of fake)"?
I cannot fathom this sentence. How does it work?
