Hiya,

My translation: "Besides, our three children also like watching TV."

a) Apologies if I've asked a similar question before, but can I check again that だし here is だ (copula) + し ("and besides")?

b) What is the meaning of とも here? Does it break down as 三人と + も?

I understand this to more or less mean "Then she started to make tea, but Amy wanted to be alone."

However, what exactly is つぎ? Is it anything to do with つぎ as in 次?

In this case, does から mean "because (it was getting cold)" or does it mean more like "(starting) from (the time that it had started to get cold)"?

My translation: "What does the mother think of today's children?"

I am unsure how どうだ fits into the sentence grammatically. Is この頃の子供はどうだ a unit meaning "how are today's children", and the sentence asking what the mother thinks about that question?

Translation given: "Sir, please explain that in more detail."

What does 今おっしゃった mean? Does it qualify そこのところ and mean something like "(the point) that you were just speaking about"?

Yes.

That's

our three children all like watching TV

That's from 注ぐ or "to pour".

The latter. If it's 寒くなっから, から means "because".

My translation: "What does the mother think of today's children?"
I am unsure how どうだ fits into the sentence grammatically. Is この頃の子供はどうだ a unit meaning "how are today's children", and the sentence asking what the mother thinks about that question?
Yes, that interpretation would be correct. The example sentence could be interpreted as an interrogative form of the following sentence.

The mother thinks that today's children is like this.

Incidentally, この頃 can mean two different meanings depending on the context and/or pronunciation; "この頃[ろ]; today" and "この頃[ろ]; in/at that time".

Yes.

Thanks Toritoribe.
That's from 注ぐ or "to pour".
Duh... I even looked up つぐ, but then somehow failed to spot the obviously applicable meaning "pour" amongst all the other irrelevant possibilities!

Hahaha. Well, it happens. We can't pay full attention to everything all the time, you know. I certainly know I can't.
