why is ~しちゃったん used for?

also in the sentence:遅刻しちゃうんです

Those are contracted (and conjugated) forms of ～てしまう.

The end part is the notorious のですconstruction、also contracted.

So if all pronounced out it would be 落としてしまったのです and 遅刻してしまうのです
