MEXT Scholarship 2016 (Research)

I think this will help you sleep a little bit. Good luck with the universities choices

@alison I didn't, but I was talking with former MEXT scholarship recipients and they told me that, in my country, the embassy only communicate the final decision, not the second screening results. Until now, there is no record of anyone being rejected at second screening in our country, so we assume that maybe they don't see necessary to communicate this results. Actually, one of them didn't know that MEXT conducts a second screening. So, I'll just keep waiting. Good luck with your placement results!

Hi,
Secondary screening results still have not been announced in India for Research Students. I am not sure if its just India or the results are pending in other countries too. I hope they announce the results next week.

Two questions - upon arrival, how is our health care handled. Is it covered?

Also, is transportation from Narita covered? Does everyone fly into Narita and then go from there?

I'll be going to Kobe so even if I arrive Osaka I'm going to have to travel inland.

Haven't seen clear info either of these points, wondering if anyone knew anything. Cheers guys

Based on my previous experience, for health care we need to enroll for "kenkou hoken" (health insurance) and application can be done at nearest district office. The fee is around 100usd per year if i not mistaken.

And for the transportation, I am quite positive the expense is under us. MEXT only covers flight ticket from home country to Japan.

Meaning to Narita?

Hi everyone! I have a question (sorry if it might seem silly lol). After passing the second screening, is it still possible to fail the university/school placement? Like, if say, MEXT can't find a school that can take you in. Or does that kind of thing not happen at all? Even though I passed the second screening I'm worried I might be dropped if MEXT can't get a school to place me in. (Lol I know I worry too much :P)

This is for Specialized Training btw, I just thought to ask in this thread because it's more active and someone around here might know the answer.

Thanks in advanced! :)

Hello, and sorry if I interrupt the conversation. Has anyone been aware of their university placement results yet? I am quite worried since some of the grantees in my country who had received LoAs from my prospective university has already been contacted regarding dormitory bookings.

I received an e-mail from Todai administration regarding dormitory booking on Christmas, even though there is no news from the embassy and my prospective supervisor.

I think I still can't quit my job until I get the official announcement from the embassy.

I also received an e-mail by Todai administration on Christmas, concerning the accommodation options that the university is offering. Does that mean that the university placement has already been unofficially completed?

Seems like it Nikosil. I have been following last year's thread. Most of the people being contacted by a University they received an LoA from ended up going to that University.
Been following this thread for a while now first time commenting. Hi guys.

Pretty much, yes. It just means that Todai is faster than MEXT, when it comes to contacting scholarship recepients. Congratulations!

Dear Currently I am in Beijing. I am coming back on January 29, 2016.

Here is my email ID, [email protected]. Contact me here. I will share my contact number in China and the contact number that will be activated after I will come back to Pakistan.

Guys,

I just got an email from Todai International Student Office regarding housing/dormitory. I consider this is a good news.

Finan,
Indonesia.

Congratulations Finan! And all the others contacted by Todai.
I'm still anxiously waiting for news on my placement:nailbiting: I had Tohoku as my 1st choice, then Nagoya and University of Tsukuba respectively.

Well, I have contacted my scholarship advisor. If the university contacted us regarding dormitory booking, it means we have been placed in the respective university. So, we'll be in the same school. :)

From the month April we have been living in what it looks like a thriller movie LOL .. We have been spending the time waiting anxiously ... I am still waiting for news from Kansai, NItech or Kuma Uni .. I hope we will be getting what we deserve ,,, Wish you all, all the best :)

Congratulation to everyone who have been contacted by the university. I'm still waiting and waiting any news from Todai, Kyodai or Meidai. It's just like a thriller movie LOL

I also put Tohoku as my first option and Gifu university as the second option. Would you mind to inform me if you receive any news from Tohoku? I'm waiting nervously for the placement result
