MEXT Scholarship 2016 (Research)

I am going for PHD in Electrical Engineering :) ... How was the life in Nagoya (expenses for two persons ?) and the University itself ? if i may ask .
Nagoya is great. Not to hip like Tokyo but enough to fancy everyone who visit. FYI, NIT have a few rooms for family in gakusei kaikan. If you manage to secure one. It will be a big saving. For living expenses, I think the scholarship is enough for two. If not enough, you can still do part time job there as well.

Hey people I would like to share my updates with you.

Yesterday I got an e-mail from my tutor from Nagoya University (second choice, first was KEIO, private) telling me that the government had contacted the university to confirm my future enrollment in Nagoya University! I am so happy to know that everything seems to be going on fine even though there's no final or definite confirmation that I am going to Nagoya University hehehe. I believe that the Embassy of Japan will only inform the final and definite results to applicants here, so I'm going to have to wait until January to get the final confirmation anyway.

Based on what happened yesterday I will be going to Nagoya if everything goes on fine from now on :).

Anyone else going to Nagoya University?

Maybe we can arrange small reunion there☺

My first choice supervisor is very busy and although we have exchanged many emails, I doubt he will reach out to me first (if mecessary).

I wish I could just bump into him in the halls, or something. Haha

Congrats to you both!

The professor from Nagoya University contacted me because the university wanted to confirm some information regarding my application (Japanese language course and other stuff) and be able to give a proper response to the Japanese Government, after we got the information cleared, he practically welcomed me to his laboratory hehehe.

Good luck to everyone!

Sure thing, even though we're not going to the same university we will most likely be living in the same city hehehe it would be nice to have a jref group over there!

Congratulations @kamuizero!
It seems that the second screening results were not yet officially announced in south america, but some recipients, as you, were already contacted by their university of choice.
I hope we all get some good news soon.

Based on my previous experience, first I stayed at my senior house for few days before allocated to the dorm. I am not quite sure what is the procedure as it is somehow automatically assigned to us. Maybe you can contact admission for further details.

For your spouse, you need to get the certificate of eligibity and I believe NIT can assist you on the procedure, as my seniors back then have no problem to bring their spouse and kids.

Talking about NIT make me remember the good old days. Super nice place for Hanami (sakura watching)

You may find me on facebook by searching ejat ezati☺

My local consulate-gen just confirmed my passing of the second screening - they are now discussing with my selected universities, it seems.

The wheels are moving!

Congrats to everyone that have received notification of passing the second screening. I have also received the good news from The Consulate-General of Vancouver this afternoon!

Hmm, it appears that the members who have gotten replies are from non-Asian countries (congratulations btw)!

Please correct me if I'm wrong. ^^ Just looking for some sort of trend to ease the muffled panic that's going on at the back of my mind.

(Singaporean here!)

I've received word from my supervisor that MEXT has contacted him! As @kamuizero described, it was about japanese language courses and stuff.

Although it isn't final confirmation from the embassy itself, I am still glad to get updates on the progress.

I just called up the embassy in Malaysia (hell I can't wait no more), and was told all candidates nominated (research student) passed the second screening.
In fact they were drafting mail for the candidates when I call :D
So congratulations to my fellow comrades!😅
