MEXT Scholarship 2016 (Research)

Canadians last year got their notice from the embassy sometime after January 25 it seems. (based on last year's thread)

I am hoping that the school(s) might give me some early information before that... fingers crossed!
 
@hojoojoh - I wouldn't count on early info from the universities unless you've cultivated an inside source there.
We were always given a "you may not contact students any earlier than" date for the Embassy-recommended scholarship. If I remember correctly, it was some time in February.
Then again, back then (all of two years ago) I would get emails from the students in December saying that they knew they'd been placed in another university. I don't know if the embassies were passing out that info earlier or whether the students had other sources.

Either way, hoping for good news for you soon!

I am Mirza Muhammad Waqar from Pakistan. I also got recommendation for MEXT 2016 by Embassy and I have successfully submitted my LOA from the following three universities for PhD in Remote Sensing:
1. Chiba University
2. Tokyo University
3. Ibaraki University

I would like to keep in contact with you so that in case of any information, we both keep updated.

the waiting kills :confused:

I think I will get results no earlier than January 15th. I am working and studying now but every day I think about MEXT :arghh: I am so worried..
 
Hello everybody..

I am a MEXT scholarship candidate for the following year as well. As of right now i have gained three LOA's from

University of tokyo
Tokyo institute of technology
Tsukuba university


From what i have been informed by the Japanese embassy in Athens, the results of the MEXT screening will come out early-mid December so the final moment is closing in for everybody... I wish everybody good luck! :)
 
The end is near guys...
the more days i've passed, the more doki-doki tsuru i am hahaha. I've read some monbusho grantee blogs from my country, and i found out that they got announced by the embassy at November 20, and tommorrow is November 20!! I tried to not thinking about all the MEXT thingy. But everytime i got free time, i just keep checking this forum and my inbox. lol

Is there anyone applied to University Tokyo of Agriculture and Technology?
I only got one LoA from TUAT. I quite worry that my chance of passing second screening will be slimming down. :banghead:

Nothing yet :/. I guess we won't be getting any kind of notice until at least December 20th or later...

Checking the blog of a guy who got the MEXT scholarship a long time ago, he mentions that he received the notice on January 26th! So yes... We have to wait a lot :/... Hopefully the professors could update us if they receive a notice from the university or from MEXT.

Based on the information from the Japanese Embassy in my country the result of the secondary screening will be announced around late december or early january. Urrggggggghhhh the wait is killing me!
 
is there a possibility to get rejected at the secondary screening phase ? and is anyone here from Syria or Jordan ?
 
No news here either. I hope we have some news soon, the wait is terrible.

@Tituss I understand that technically is possible be rejected at this stage, but very rare.
 
Hello everyone.

I am very happy to let you know that i have just received a call from the embassy of Japan in Greece and they have informed me that i have successfully passed the second screening!!!!

Now i have got to wait until January to know to which university i have been assigned or will be assigned to!

PS: I did ask her if that means that i have officially got the scholarship, but she told me that it's not certain yet!! (When will it be certain, come on!!!)
 
Hello Every One,

I just got email from my supervisor. He told me I am selected for MEXT 2016 and he was asking me to confirm my arrival date. I got LOAs from following three universities:

1. Chiba University (1st Preference)
2. Tokyo University (2nd Preference)
3. Ibaraki University (3rd Preference)

I got selection in my first preference.

Thank GOD... I am really happy...

I am getting more anxious as the days go by. Hoping to receive some reply soon to put an end to this miserable waiting period.
 
Thank you guys, but if my advice counts for anything, don't feel anxious!

From what i know, 99% of the people that have one or more letter of acceptance pass the second screening!

Good luck to you all, i wholeheartedly wish you all pass on to the next stage!
 
Hi guys,

apparently they've started sending out more information today as I've also received information that I've been accepted as a recepient of the MEXT Research scholarship for next year. According to the Japanese embassy in my country, the final confirmation (which university we'll be allocated to) will be emailed to us until the end of this year.

I've selected the following three universities as my preferred destinations:
1.) Kyoto university
2.) Osaka university
3.) Kobe university

Good luck to everybody and see you in Japan!
 
wow, you guys are so lucky!! congratulations!

my friend also got a call from embassy today. she lives in a different city and she has different embassy. my embassy is silent.
