A TV program I watched said a eringii mushroom is the best substitute for tako, or octopus.
A great step for my secret project, sustainable takoyaki for people all over the world.

I love Sushi! It's my favorite food even though you don't get that much and it's a bit expensive, it is the best!! (^^)
And I also REALLY REALLY REALLY love 'Beard Papa's Cream Puff'
They are so delicious!!! I could dream about them all day!!! (>V<)

Yes, 'Beard Papa's Cream Puff' is really nice.
The cream puff is in line with the recent popular trend, different textures in a food. The outer puff is crispy, and the inner is very creamy.

The firefly squid, Hotaru Ika, is in season (spring) now here (we've already in summer on the Asian calender, though.)
Boiled ones are usually available. But it is nice to boil them quickly again and also good to remove its eyes by the hand for better texture.

Toyama Prefecture is famous for the tiny squid, but I did not know Hyogo Prefecture actually shows the most catch of it in Japan.
Pasta with boiled takenoko, bamboo shoots

Takenoko is also in season. Shaved dried bonito really goes with it. (テ溪?曠テ?uma
At the recent food price increase, I really want to yell, "ET TU, DE CECCO (my favorite brand of pasta)". So I post the photos of pasta.

Tameshite Gatten is a long-lasting TV program about daily life.
This is about Yakisoba, fried noodle.

The gist is that you should fry noodle first till lightly brown, then add other ingredients.
But this is the way Gutch Yuzo, an entertainer, always tell about.

Even though sushi is my favorite dish, I'm often longing for some good salmon o-nigiri, which is almost the same, I suppose. The best ones are made by cute girls who like you.

mmmm sashimi

my favorite dish is definetly sashimi
When I ate it at first, my stomach hated it so much that I spent 8 months before trying it again. I guess I was not used to raw food :)
but now everytime I eat sashimi or suchi I cant stop smiling. I luv maguro, saumon, shrimb,...
Have you guys tried horse sahmi?

I tried it once when I was there. It tasted like beef, for the most part. I prefer the gyuniku-nigiri at my favorite local sushi bar.

Have any of you ever tried sazae? When I first pulled it out of it's shell, it looked like something from a science fiction movie. ☝

But it was delicious!:-)

Momo!!

After a 30+ kilometer bicycle ride in the sweltering, summer Tokyo heat, 😌 the best food you can eat is a sweet, cold hakuto (white peach) straight from your refrigerator. It's so good, it's like heaven. 👍

A sublime combination of sweetness and juiciness.

Out of all those I think I'm gonna have to go with donburi. More specifically katsudon...It's so delicious! :-)

Just katsudon btw, not katsukarei or anything like that

I didnt read through all the posts as there were so many, but my favorite Japanese food is probably miso soup. My favorite Japanese candy is Apple hi-chews, meiji apollos and these ramune pellet things that come in a plastic container shaped like a ramune bottle (theyre so hard to find here though)

My favourite is Tempura, excpacially tempura made of prawns and vegetables.
I like vegetarian sushi too, but i am not so much into fish so i am not huge fan of traditional japanese food...

I am not an anti fast food activist, but I like eating it as well as cooking at home when I can.

Idaho Special of Pizza Hut Japan, (potato, bacon, onion, corn, parsley, black pepper, and mayo)

I maybe try Gomadare Pork pizza next time.

Disclaimer
It is usually possible to order pizza as long as your place, indoor or outdoor ones, within shops' territory, but nobody pays you the reward even if it (potato & mayo) tastes good/bad. Take your own risk.

Pipokun's mentioning of Gobo reminded me of my favorite Japanese soup, けんちん汁 (Kenchin-jiru). It is somewhat similar to the Italian Minestrone. I am sure there are various recipes but in MY household, it is made with chicken, Daikon, Konnyaku, Carrot, Tofu and Gobo. What you do is just stir-fry the chicken and the viggies with a little bit of oil in a large stock pot and add water, then flavour it with sone soy sause and maybe some sesame oil to taste. It is very simple yet SOOOOO good especially on a cold winter night.
I like to pour the soup over a bowl of white rice and eat it with a spoon! lol

It is great to cook a large amount of it and eat it over a few days. At the end, you can dump some left over rice and let it simmer for a while a la Risotto. MMmmmmmmm~~~~~ Mom!!!

I miss a lot the Melon Pan. I can't find it in my country.
My favourite food is one of cheapest, Ramen.
Also I like Okonimiyaki, Sashimi, Udon.

Before suing the pizza company, I got calm down to try find what I could do by myself.

I used the leftover of Tori-Gobo, a soy-sauce flavored and a bit sweet chicken and gobo dish. Just placed it on one side of toast.
I don't know what the company used for their sesame sauce, so I just used the bottled sesame salad dressing and add a small amount of mayo for a bit richer flavor. Toss it with the gobo and place it with enoki mushroom on the other side of toast.

Put as much as cheese you want, then toast the bread well.

Cheese has been recently expensive as you can see my photos.
I don't know who I should sue for the cheese price hike.

My favourite food is one of cheapest, Ramen.

Instant ramen noodles are generally considered as a cheap food in Japan or around the world. But I heard the market is very competitive here, only one or two brand(s) can be survived from 500-600 new brands every year.

And the competition esp., at the convenient store is much harder, so it might be possible where an ex-tourist, student, or expat would asked a question "where can I buy my super favorite cup noodle bought/ate last year?", but no Japanese would know it at all.
Or even after you'd be lucky enough to find the brand, it is highly likely that the materialistic or customer-oriented monster under the name of convini would slightly change its taste/flavor every year/season. Actually they do.

Pipokun

窶堋キ窶堋イ窶堋「ツ!

I had no idea about that! Good to know it. Thank you.

Kaki

Watermelons and peaches have gone with summer. The fruit you'll see most often at grocers now is kaki (persimmon). Sweet and tasty, the perfect fruit for autumn (besides pears).
