Weather thread!

South East England;

Winter - Cold, dark, wet and windy
Spring - Crisp, bright, wet, and windy
Autumn - Wet and Windy
Summer - Breaks of sun, though wet and windy.

I can always count on the weather.

Right now it feels like the weather is crazy in Sweden.

"Lalala, walking on the road, and the weather is nice, humdidumdi...what is tha...AAARRGGHHH! (could be either snowstorm or hurricane).

A little exagerated (i don't know how it's spelled) maybe, but not much. :)

I think winter has arrived !

After a very mild start to the winter, warm temps and no snow, I think winter is finally here in Maine. Not much snow this winter so far, only about 10 inchs over all. The temperatures are sure cold now though. This morning it was -1 F or -18 C. With the high winds it felt like -20 F or --28 C. Tomorrow is susposed to be even colder. I'm glad I don't have a job working outdoors!

Well, here in Philly, we had the same sort of mild winter conditions, but that changed on Friday as the mercury took a major nosedive. After temps in the low 40's on Thursday, Friday's high was all of 25, and with stiff winds blowing most of the day, it was downright brutal, feeling like it was in single digits!! Especially at 5:30 in the morning when I left for work. A pleasant day that wasn't! I'm also grateful that I work indoors! But now, the mercury's back on the rollercoaster as temps are expected to return to the low to mid 40's for the weekend. Sheesh! All this up and down nonsense is driving me crazy! I always catch colds when the weather acts like this! URGH!

:auch:

We've been having really mild weather, but we had snow earlier this week! 😲 It's gone again now, though. It's not really cold any more, just a bit more chilly and crisp than it was before the snow.

Bet it's cold in Canada!

Woke this morning to -5 F or -20 C, too cloudy to go to the beach for a swim I guess. Weatherman says "light snow flurries" today, got 4 inches of "light" flurries last Tuesday.

Four inches worth of "light flurries", eh? I hate to imagine what would happen when the weatherguessers actually call for a snowstorm!

:p

Berrrrrr!!

Winter is coming. It was 33F/1C here this morning with frost on the car windows to scrape. Inland was below freezing throughout the whole state. This week the daily highs have been under 60F/15C with a strong afternoon sun. With the price of heating oil climbing fast, it's going to be a long and expensive heating season I guess.

Yosshhhhh, its raining here in Belgium and its 17 October and its 13.31h / 01.31pm

brrrr, i hate rain

Indian Summertime

The weather's been kinda nutty here as Indian Summer refuses to let go here in the Philly region. The days start out chilly, requiring me to wear a jacket when I leave for work (5:45 a.m.), but the mercury does a quick climb during the day, by the time I leave for the day (3 p.m.), it's short sleeve weather with temps in the upper 70's. Perplexing. I recently put some of my long sleeved shirts in the cleaners in preparation for chilly Fall weather but I haven't seen it yet, at least not on a consistent basis. But, as is often the case around here, it'll be 70 one day, then 40 the next. That I absolutely can't stand. Weather, annoying!

Nor'easter hits us today in Maine!!

6AM and already 3 inches of snow on the ground. Before it finishes late tonight we will have 12 to 24 inches of snow from 1 storm, looks like a white Xmas this year. The first storm of the season always means lots of car crashes while people re-learn how to take it easy on slippery roads. I have to drive to 3 different patients homes in 3 different towns today, so wish me luck.

Yo, Frank! I'll order my chaplains to pray for you. It's not nearly so wicked down here, but we're looking at wind gusts at around 50 mph through midnight, which means it's gonna be plenty chilly in these here parts. BBRRRRRR!!

Right now, it's FREEEEEEEZING!!
The temp is no more than about 30 degrees.
I hate when the weather is too cold or too hot. I like Spring.

OMG that's very very cold!

Today it was a sunny day :) and the temperatures were from about 25-30ツコ C. in the day and in the night about 18ツコC.

Melbourne is known as the city with all 4 seasons in one day: can be true, but not quite as extreme in winter: we went from 33C to 18C in half an hour the other day, with AMAZING storms: 50mm rain in that 1/2 hour, but only in a very few suburbs: drought and water restrictions are very much the way of the climate change world here now.

I'm starting to doubt global warming !

Another nor'easter today in Maine. The real temp is -12 Celsius with the high winds making it feel like about -20 C. Later today the winds are supposed to gust to 50 miles per hour with 20 foot waves off the coast. We are due to get 5 or 10 inches of snow before it changes to freezing rain late this afternoon. If we get ice on the trees with high winds, that means no electricity and no heat for a lot of people. Visibility is about 100 feet in the heavy blowing snow. The officials are asking everyone to stay off the roads till tomorrow if possible. I plan to hunker down next to my warm computer with JREF today.

Its very cold over here, sky is grey, the sun is not very strong right now and i'll expect it will be dark by 4:00pm, parts of my pond are still frozen over and its 3:20pm in the afternoon right now.

... ... ...

Ah i want summer to come back!!

It's bloody freezing in Canterbury. If it gets much colder I'll be able to skate in to work :S

Drag, grey days really take it out of me. I wonder if I have Seasonal Affective Disorder (the aptly chosen acronym SAD). I don't mind cold so much, as long as there is a bit of sunshine to let me know whether it's day or night...

Ah i think everyone gets a bit like that when the weather is miserable. I find that i tend to sleep longer and sleep later when the weather is cold- its really hard for me to get up in the morning when its still dark outside, and i'm lying in my bed and its just so cosy and warm, lol i don't want to get out of cosy bed when the bedroom is so cold 😌 .

Sometimes i like winter weather though, it depends on my mood, sometimes it is really nice to open my door and walk outside into the really crisp fresh morning air with the pure winter sun rays shining and everywhere is beautifully frosted with ice and the birds are singing their morning songs etc- as long as i am not cold, it can be really nice 👍 .

The very bright, frosty days are indeed awesome :) as I say, a bit of sunshine and life is grand. Down here in the South East its the endless grey, drizzley days that seem to grind me down.

I cry uncle! Enough !!

Ugh , 4 to 8 inches of snow today(3 inches already). Around noon tomorrow another 4 to 10 inch snow storm due in. Visibility is horrible and driving a real challange , but off to work anyway. Here in Portland, Maine, we broke a record for the snowiest December on record, over 30 inches so far. Looks like my snow blower will get another good workout this week.

Yo, Uncle Frank! Be careful out there! I'd hate to hear that anything terrible happened to you.

30 inches is 90cm? Wish we had that much. We have 0 cm of snow and it is 5 degrees. I think this is because of global warming. I hate wintes but I like snow. Its like an oxymoron but.
