the world is so dangerous(here in US anyway) that little kids are not safe to go out to get their treats. 20 years ago at least 100 kids or more came to the house; lately it's under 25. It seems to be switching to an adult party thing and less for the kids.

That's an enlightened comment if I've ever heard one. Is Christmas any different, Easter? It's not that difficult to separate commercialism from cultural tradition is it? Aside from offending Americans you might be taking a stab at good taste and thinking too.

christmas was pretty krazy! they started singing christmas stuff at the end of november

ppl are very enthusiastic about holidays

new years eve though isnt the big thing here i guess everybody pops a few rockets and thats all (in germany its allmost as loud as WWII though lol )

ya cool i asked about halloween and not christmas.

there are professionals, who make up graveyard, cemetery, tombstones, skeletons, rats, bats, crows, cobweb/spiders, skulls, self-opening coffin etc.

the question is: HOW DO YOU LIKE IT

or: i have plans myself for...
or: it scares me...
or: i have seen this and this...

the post is not about christmas...

imagine i have made up a spider wardrobe recently, with 23 spiders: glow in the dark bats, uv-light tube.

if you do not like it, allright, let me know, but your opinion about christmas shopping???

we dont really celibrate it overe here either, we have our own Holloween kind of thing called SINT MAARTEN.... were children get candy with singing in front of doors with there lights.... 11 november..

i wouldnt like if holloween come here, we have to many things already ( only if its a free day, im in it ...... )

Well, I'm as pagan as they come without the stereotypical "new agey-ness" so it's a bit different for me. I enjoy both the commercialism and my own special meanings behind it. Same with pretty much all holidays--Christmas and Easter and New Years--they're just huge parties now, on the surface, so I enjoy the parties and socializing of them and honor my version of the holiday privately. I don't try to take away religiousness of any holiday for others (although I have a slight confusion/bitterness against those who do try to take away from it because of their religion, which is a bit hypocritical on my part) and expect no one to lecture me.

And Dutch, if you already have a version of it where you are, then ya don't need Halloween in the American way since it doesn't get adults out of work or children out of school.

It's actually Scottish in origin... Instead of pumpkins, turnips were used

I love Halloween though, just for the sake of getting to dress up... It's like "Wheee! A chance to pretend I'm any good at cosplaying!"
