You and your mobile phone

Curious to know if what type of mobile phone you have and what you use it for. Just for texting and calling or do you some of its other features.
I ask because I have just upgraded to a new phone, a Nokia 6210 Navigator. Useful to me as a driver as it also has a sat nav as well as its other, many, features.

in the past 6 years i bought many models of Nokia Mobiles,but the first one was Samsung.
i bought Nokia 7610,N70,N73 ...
but now i dont like these models witch have a Camera,Bluetooth,Wirless...etc
I have Nokia 3100 now.i use it for calling my family,friends,sending SMS..^^
i like my laptop more than mobiles.

I bought a cheap Motorola at Walmart for Tracfone, a pay as you go setup, no plan. In 3 years, I have used about 30 minutes on it. It fits the bill for what I need, I'm not a big talker.

Interesting...we also have a Motorola for Tracfone (purchased at Target, though). Is that what all the old folks buy? We use our cell phone a little more often than you do, because when our power goes out, we lose the land line phone service.

I have a from WIN phone from au, made by SANYO. I mostly use it for keeping in touch with my students either by text or by phone. I also use it to take pictures when I've forgotten my digital camera.

It's about 2 years old, but I since I only use the basic features it's plenty flashy enough for me.

I have a cheapo pay-as-you-go mobile bought at the supermarket for about ﾂ≫??0. It doesn't have a camera or mp3 player. I just use it for texting, and top up ﾂ≫??0 every six weeks or so.

I've got a BlackBerry Bold - although I wouldn't have bought it for myself, it was got for me by my partner as we have 2 phones on the same business account so it is a lot cheaper.

As a phone, I really love it, it's very convenient and the contract is good value. One satisfied customer here! ^^"

I have a flip up Samsung that's about 3 years old. It has text messaging, a camera and access to the internet, but I never use these features because I see no sense paying for features that I rarely use and are just a waste of time. Besides, they make you pay an extra $7/month to be able to load pictures up to the Sprint website. Screw that. If I could load them into my own computer I may use the feature.

Text messaging seems to be quite popular today, but I never send nor do I answer texts because they are usually lame jokes and people usually have nothing of importance to say. If it's important I'll call them or they can call me.

The GPS feature seems to be pretty cool and would be useful, but I already have one that is small and portable and can fit in my pocket if need be.

I use the phone mainly while on the road in case I break down and to talk to family and friends while driving at night. Other than that I turn it off and never use it in public unless I absolutely have to.

I love technology, but cell phones seem to me to be more of a ball and chain and most people cannot stand being a few minutes away from their phone without checking their messages or texting. I just don't get it. Maybe I'm getting too old.

My husband and I started out with an archaic Nokia; since we only have one vehicle, whoever was driving it also had the cell phone.
Now, we both have our own Samsung SGH - T219 mobiles. I've actually read a few bad reviews on them, but I've had no complaints so far ~ I'd like to be able to take pics, but I use my phone to be easily contacted by my family and friends. I also love texting with my husband with it. Our conversations are... sweet. :valentine

Hehe, I have msn messenger on my phone, and the other night I had a really long conversation with my husband on it (I was staying at a hotel for work). It's true we could just have called each other on the phone the regular way. But, it's strange, we talked about different things and more analytically on msn than we would have if we'd been talking on the phone! And it was so useful to us, we decided to schedule a regular (maybe once every 3 months) 'msn conversation'!

I've had a motorola v3c on the last 3 or 4 years. For text messaging and calling only.

sumima-san, sometimes I wished I could do that, but nowdays it seems that everything is handled by phone. :/

I have a Nokia N73, for texting and calling, quick photografie, and going on the net if I need it,(somethimes music but I can't use standart ears, need in ears. There are only cheap bad quality for the phone so not really super)
Next to that I use my Ipod Touch as a additional, for music (with good in ears), wireless internet connection (@school and home), and gaming.

But I want to buy a LG Renoir (or a new simular edition) in autum when my abbo ends.

I have an iPhone 3G since it came out. Yeah, it's expensive, and I'm going to have to unlock it to use with AT&T, but I'm not going back to any other phone.

I use it sometimes for texting, mostly using the applications.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I must admit I have changed my mind and was wrong in my earlier assessment a year and a half ago.

I used to drive at night so I had a simple plan and phone that gave me unlimited talk at nights and since I used my computer every morning I didn't see the need for any of the other features as it did feel like a ball and chain.

When I moved to days, all that changed as I found I was eating up my day minutes which were only 350 so I had to consider a new plan. If I was going to pay extra, I might as well go all out. I decided to wait for the new Sprint EVO smartphone which would give me unlimited internet, pictures, HD video, TV and sports, messaging, etc., all for one price, and if I didn't like it I could cancel within 30 days. Needless to say I have not been disappointed. It's like having my laptop in my pocket.

I can surf Jref or Facebook while I'm stuck in traffic, answer posts, upload pictures and video to web sites instantly, check e-mail, listen to my music, read a book via the free Kindle app, look at YouTube and countless of other things anywhere, anytime. The speed is as fast, if not faster, than my laptop.

At home, or anywhere that has it (and it seems everyplace has it), I can use WiFi for faster speeds if I have a weak signal. It also comes with a GPS navigator from Google (no charge) that shows, in real time, a satellite view of the roads I am driving on. It's like I am looking at myself from a plane and I have since sold my previous GPS. The compass app shows my exact location, altitude and speed, and Google Sky app lets me point the phone at the sky and it shows me every star, constellation, or planet that I am looking at or it will find it for me if I ask. Incredibly accurate!

I couldn't begin to mention all the cool apps and features of this phone or any other smartphone, but it has definitely been worth it due to the numerous features. It's not just a phone anymore.
