I also think it would be difficult to make good living by following the beaten path up the Japanese corporate ladder. The pay is not good in general compared to the foreign employers in Japan. So, I don't even consider working for the traditional Japanese corporations especially I am not a fresh graduate from college anymore. I just could not see how 5 or 6 million yen annual salary for the average Japanese salaryman in his 30s will support a family.to US it is more easy to find a excellant job ...
To Japan,to find a good job is a big problem for my japanese friends.
I think an excellant job is very very difficult for a foreigner, excepted for foreigners working in European or US companies to Japan, and excepted for english teachers (so as you read I cannot)
Finding good jobs will also depend on your legal status in that country. Typically, the visa situation will significantly restrict your freedom to choose your own choice of career.
