  • i dont know because i'm still alive....haha
  • but well, i would like to share what i believe in afterlife and it depends on the type of death you go through...
  • (not sure if it's mentioned in Taoism or Buddhism, just for the means of sharing...=), there are lots of different death that affect the outcome, quite complicated and beyond my understanding, so i'll just state a few simple ones...XD)
  1. Death caused by accident - one dies not due to fate/destiny, meaning an unexpected death (everyone has a certain lifespan upon birth, calculated based on an unknown formula that takes karma from past lives into account, dono bout the further details...lol). Upon death, the soul wanders around in Human Realm until the time when the lifespan is finished, unseen by humans except those wif special gifts (that's y some ppl see ghosts..XD).
  2. Natural Death - lifespan is up, time to leave the body, representatives from Nether Realm will come and fetch you, politely if one's a good person....XD.
  • after the deaths above, the soul will be escorted to Nether Realm (Yin Realm), to be judged on the KPI when one's still alive, the good/ bad deeds affect the result that determines if one is to proceed with damnation in hell (Hell Path, Hungry Ghost Path), reincarnation (Animal Path, Human Path), elsewhere (Asura Path) or ascending to Heaven (Heaven/Deity Path).
  • this is a brief explanation of what i know bout afterlife. again, i'm just sharing what i know, hope that i've not offended anyone here....XD

That's about as bad a misrepresentation of Buddhism as it would be of Christianity to say that the Easter Bunny gave birth to Santa Claus, who was later crucified by the Grinch.

Because I don't believe in Heaven or Hell due to being an atheist I just believe that you stop existing.

However the problem arises when I think 'Well in the future, when I potentially have children, what do I tell them without imposing religious views on them?'

I decided I'd tell them that they have become a star in the night sky, where they will stay and watch over you. It still suggests they go off into the sky (spiritual reference perhaps) but without going into any direct religious beliefs such as becoming angels, or being judged by God and being sent to either Heaven or Hell. Then in the future if they wish to take up a religion they can form their own beliefs about what happens after a person dies, as I have done :)

I can't tell you where people go when they die. But, I can tell you where I would want to go if there is such thing as an after life: Valhalla. I'm not a religious person but I have studied various religions over the years. And out of all of the heavens found in the many different religions I have studied, Valhalla is the one I have always found the most interesting. One of the reasons that I find it interesting is the fact that its more or less part of a larger event in the after life. Rather then a place you spend eternity. Valhalla is more or less a staging ground for the eventual battle called Ragnarok. I don't really want to go to your typical version of a Heaven for the same reason I don't like living in one place for a long time. I get restless and need to explore new places, see and do new things. If I was simply stuck in one place for eternity, even with everything I ever wanted and everyone I ever knew/loved I'm pretty sure I'd grow bored and restless. Spending eternity bored and restless isn't my idea of a paradise, it would be more like a hell for me.

'where do people go after death?'
i think you should read 'the purpose driven life' book by rick warren.
people go to their home which is heaven. because here on earth, we only live in tent but after we died we will live in our true house, here in heaven. WELCOME ABROAD!!!!

All religion mentioned that after death, the soul is gone to partition, it pronounced in Arabic like "barzakh" which means somewhere between the heaven and earth. The religions did not mention any details about that. what they are or where exactly. no one knows but Allah "God" know that. After death is another world, another things. May Allah mercy us.

I think it is the need of human nature to question about the life after death due to the fact that ---Each one of us will die!

Who can deny it?

Being aware of the reality of the death, for me comes up with the question ; So why??

I mean why im struggling to earn, to learn, to teach, to please??

For me struggle is to get better education while for you in the other part of the world , why your struggle is seeking food to surivive?

Hey you the one i see always on the street who is drunk constantly, just living to find food to breath and pee and drink and hallucinate, who or what made you like this??

Let me check the hospital; You sick people why you are suffering that various illnesses?? Why you are the one who is applied chemotherapy while the one in white coat is applying it ? Why it is not reverse? Why are you suffering??

In China why do u have to work from morning to evening to earn money? Why you cant sit in your home when you are tired instead of becoming hunchbacked in rusty dusty factories?

You young lady why do you have to leave your beloved country ; Ethiopia, Philiphines to Qatar?? Why are you accepting humiliation , oppression, injustice, slavery for earning to live a better life.? Isn't it too much for your weak shoulders,? Why you are the one who is shedding tears while other rich lady is the one who cause your tears? Why you dont make her taste your pain, your suffering, your misery? Tell me why??

Why do you have to beg old man while im giving you the money? why it is not the opposite?

If this life is real , and all inside it is the only thing we live through, it is injustice, it is unfair, it sucks. It doesnt deserve any affection any care ,any efford..

That's why there must be revenge, challange. That's why there must be a place which is just.. That's why hereafter exists.

That's why We are all asking afterlife ..We need answer for our questions ? Everyone deserves to ask and get the answer - Why?

HEAVEN- because now.. We are all living in HELL.. surrounded by demons wearing a mask of humans, we are like survivors in any terms, like love, money, health etc.. But sometimes angels come to help us, those are our friends and family, but not all of them are angels, some of them are just wearing an angel's mask.. So be careful and know how to analyze the real and the fake ones :D ... And when we die... We go to HEAVEN.. In PEACE :)

Unfortunately the christian mentality of people going to hell upon death is the result of poor translators, and I find it interesting that this was brought up on a Japanese language learning website. If memory serves me, there are 3 different and distinct words used for "hell" in the Bible that all have their own meanings, however the translator used the same word for each. One was the actual fire pit talked about in Revelation that would not exist until a thousand years after everyone has died, the 2nd is referring to a state of mind ("my life is a living hell!"), and the 3rd is a physical location that existed where people dumped their trash ("you look like hell!").

Since the first definition is the one were talking about, and since it doesn't exist yet, no one can go there when they die. Therefore...

I had to vote "don't know". But I have no more reason to believe in a "continuation" any more than I have to believe that if I unplugged a computer (death) and tossed it, hard drive and all in a vat of molten steel (decomposition) that somehow the data on the harddrive would still exist, somewhere, somehow (the soul). I have no proof that life after death does NOT exist, but I cannot prove such negatives, and no one can. Trouble is that some people, people of faith, will take that as an invitation to believe any silly thing they want.

All hail the Flying Spaghetti Monster and the Invisible Pink Unicorn!

After death, we return to the cosmic dust from whence we came. If you unplug your mind's computer and throw the hard-disk in a molten vat, all the data that makes up you will be gone. And that's fine with me. I accept it as reality, part of the natural order of life.

But if you've been infected with the religion virus, and have been unable to cure yourself, you probably have a neurotic fear of the natural process of death, due to threats of eternal punishment and the possibility of failing to make it to heaven in the afterlife.
