I know there have been similar threads to this one, but I am always curious.
I think a lot of you guys have a really good taste in movies.
So, what are your favorite movies of all time?
You can only pick five of them for the rest of your life.

Here are mine:

'Stranger Than Paradise' (I've watched this movie more than 50 times and never got tired of it.)

'Taxi Driver' (Robert De Niro is one of my favorite actor.)

'Seven Samurai ' (Just astonishingly amazing film.)

'The Professional' (Love Gary Oldman's intense badness.)

'In The Soup' (Creative w/ good laughs.)

Tell me yours.

Hey, I like this thread, misa! 🎈

Let's see...

5. Gone with the Wind (seen it well over 250 times)

4. Bram Stoker's Dracula (love Gary Oldman)

3. The Professional (we have that in common...love Gary Oldman(again) and especially Jean Reno)

2. Muriel's Wedding

1. The Lover

Kirei,

Yeah! Gary Oldman is a fantastic actor. Have you seen him in 'True Romance' when he played a pimp?
He looked so hot in those dreadlocks!

Eep! Tricky question.

I'll probably wish I'd have put a different answer once I've said this, but here goes:

Harold and Maude - "The greatest love story of our time" (Mary in the film There's Something About Mary)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail - probably the funniest film I've seen.
Donnie Darko - I could never get bored of this film.
Battle Royale - Ah, it just rules.

I think those 4 are definites and wouldn't change and the 5th choice would depend on my mood or something. I'll go for Amores Perros I think.

My five all-time favourites are:

-The Life of David Gale (I love Kevin Spacey)
-Forrest Gump (I love Tom Hanks, and it is a sweet movie)
-Something's Gotta Give (a wonderful story starring Jack Nicholson and Dianne Keaton).
-One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (a classic!)
-American Beauty

🎈

Argh! American Beauty - I'm swapping that in place of Amores Perros. :D I told you that would happen.

This is a good swap Jovial Jon!

Good choice!! *thumbs up* :haihai:

jon,

I have never seen Amores Perros, and I just read the discription of the movie in my 'Video Hound's Golden Movie Retriever' (It's a really long name...). Made me want to see it.

Miss appolo,

'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' is an amazing movie. They used the reference of it on the Simpson's, which was pretty funny.

The Incredibles
South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut
Dogma
Disney's Aladdin
Monster's Inc.

That's a tough one. I usually don't like watching a movie more than once because I feel I am wasting my time when there are so many movies (or series, or documentaries) to see that I haven't.

Maybe I'd go for comedies, at least those funny enough to laugh again and again. But they are scarce. I'd go for the 10 seasons of the series "Friends", which I actually watched twice (a rare exception).

The problem with comedies is that my sense of humour evolves, and what I laughed at 10 years ago might not make me laugh now or vice versa. But that is also true for other movies. My tastes evolve. So no answer.

I've done this before, but I always like listing my favorite movies....

1) Trainspotting
2) Shawshank Redemption
3) Fight Club

5) Swingers

You are what you like. I would highly recommend all of these movies to anyone who hasn't seen them. 👍

I know what you mean. I usually don't watch the same movie over and over except for the ones I really, really like. That is why my list is filled with old movies.

Brooker,

I like the movies you have listed, too. I watched all of them except "Swingers".

Huh, Clint Eastwood movies are very popular among boys.
My favorite one of his is "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly", same as Jack In Box.
