What Window Do You Look Out ??

Anyone still have Windows 95? Remember what a hassel 3.1 and DOS were back in the good ol days? I bet maybe a few of you still use 98 or 98SE.
Many office workers still use 2000. Gotta be quite a few ME users still about.
And of course when you went to get XP you had to pick Home/Office/or Pro.
Now I know we have Apple users, Linux and others out there for die hard Microsoft haters. SOOO, what are you using??

Windows XP! Used to be XP Home; I just had it updated now.

At work, though, we still use 2000. I guess there's no need to change yet, as it works just fine. The only hassle is that documents I write at home can't be read by Word at work...

I go back to punch cards and teletype machines and punch tape and magnetic reels about 2 feet in diameter. Th computers stood 6 feet tall and you flicked toggle switchs on & off to make program changes. The room would be about 110 degrees from all the heat the old stuff gave off. AHHH, the good ol days !

Aw c'mon, 3.1 wasn't that bad. And I used to play some great games through DOS (just look for the .exe file!). I've used just about every Windows product, including ME (which I hated). I'm on XP Pro right now, but may have to remove it due to -ahem- issues.

On my laptop I run XP Home, but on my desktop I run 98/XP. I mixed XP and 98 together so I don't have a problem when it comes to writing documents for college, so I can actually open up my documents... sometimes XD

Well, Uncle Frank, I'm one of those Apple users you mentioned, so the only window I look through gives me a wonderful view of the nearby alley from my little home office. As for the "other" Windows (ICK!), I'm forced to use 2000 at work.

I still have my computers that have win 3.1, win 95, and win 98. Maybe I should fire them up and compare the difference. Then again, maybe I should just trash them or save them to sell on e-bay.

Coincidentally, I recently started playing a game called Castle of the Winds that I used to play on our old 486. It ran on 3.1, and still runs on xp. Thankfully it's turn-based, otherwise I'd be getting wiped out like I did when I ran doom on a pentium 3 without adjusting game speed.

I use XP Home at home; XP Professional at the office.

Used to have '98SE until my hard drive crashed - not too bad actually - but couldn't "shut her down" without a sledgehammer! .... until I added lots of RAM! (Then the "shut down bug" seemed to slink away!)

I'm gonna add a second hard-drive and try Linux the very moment I have the courage to install it. Wish me luck!

When I was in school they taught us typing. We had yet to wrap our minds around the term "food processor", let alone "word processor" (which none of us had ever even heard of and I'm not sure even existed yet).

We spent half of each term on manual typewriters and half on electric.

Typing remains the single most used of any skill I learned at school.

Typewriters? Are you kidding? Hell, when I was in high school, we used hammers and chisels on slate tablets like on The Flintstones!

Cool beans! I've been a Mac user since 1994 and have loved the experience! In fact, with my birthday coming up on Thursday, I'm thinking of treating myself to a new G5 iMac. Should be great!
