How do you think about our dreams ?
Sometimes you wonder that why we are dream, what the meaning of it is.
For me, I beleive in Freud with the explaination about wish fulfillment with some complexity behind.
How is about you ? Share your idea.

Well, I think that dreams are your brain processing all sorts of information while you sleep. So my dreams contain things that have been in my life, perhaps that day or maybe even years ago, sometimes things that I have forgotten about in the conscious mind but they surface in dreams.

It can be useful to think about your dreams because it can show what your brain 'really' thinks about something in the subconscious!

I think we had a previous topic on the subject, and despite the fact that various interpretations exist about dreams, why looking for a meaning behind them? 😌

I've had a few of my dreams come true the very next day (for instance I told a friend that we were not gonna be in the same class before we got to see the lists)but does it validate the stories about premonitory dreams? Do dreams allow us to prepare for upcoming event?
What about dreams in unrealistic settings then?
How about recurring nightmares?
Could they be considered to be unconscious desires as Freud states? The product of a collective unconscious (Jung)? The result of random neural transmissions?

So many questions and nothing to assess the truth...:(

In my opinion, I think it's better to just leave dreams be and enjoy them 😊

Yes, we have had this subject up before. . . of course, as new members come, subjects which have been well beatened out and have retired from sight, come up again; as they are on the new member's mind, and the newer member has not checked deeply enough for similar threads.

I agree that Freud and Jung's anaysis base is misinformed to the larger degree, and thus not so factual. The nostalgia of their proposals, and the fact that their counseling often did help (overall), keep yet a good number of psychologists clinging to their camps.

Many things seem to occur during sleep, and one of them, perhaps the number one major thing, is the repair of worn and damaged brain parts. . . yeah, we lose them parts too. Another major thing to keep in mind when you dream of sleep and dreaming, is that the brain does not stop working. . . no one dies while they sleep (in the sarcastic sense here only) so don't go fretting going to bed tonight. You'll wake up after the alpha wave sleep, as though nothing had happened while you were lacking consciousness, at all. Or is that what dying is, basically? (of course it is !!!--as will be discovered on another thread some sunny day)

Read that two thirds of all dreams are negative. That might be due to the much less active prefrontal cortex while one is sleeping.

I have no idea but yes you are right. Like I was sleep hungry last night , And in my dream i visit all hotels just for searching food. But some time its true. I mean dreams are true somewhere like you see in your dream about today is your bad day, You are ill today or something. No one explain more clear about dreams.
