I guess that whatever we want to believe is based in the dimention we are living.

So after death what do you want it to happen?
There are human that based their believe on their religious back ground, other purely on human logic.

There is a big difference between what you want to believe and what you believe.

I am still thinking about it, not that is the most important thing for me.

We live our present lives, and future lives, through our children and grand children and our spouses, and the people we influence around us.

Past that, I personally have no needs for myself, and don't take me wrong... death will be ok, because I have been blessed with my children and grand children and now a wonderful wife, and I pray for those trying to have children of their own, or children they can adopt to raise as their own in a loving home.

Can I promise something, thatsme, we are related, absolutely, positively, so God Bless you in your pursuit.

Im unsure, damn, anything but destruction. Hell, Heaven, Valhalla, anything will do.

Personally i would like there to be some sort of life after death, but not eternal life after death (that would get kinda old/boring after a while) but rather some rest and then be reincarnated etc or something like that :) . Really, i guess more than anything in death i would like to be able to meet my loved ones who have died like my father and gran etc 👍 .

I have no clue is my short answer. However from the various pieces of info I have in my head from different religions and 'dead for a few minutes' people, I believe there is something after death, what it is I have no clue. I would like to think there is some sort of after life really, because I can't imagine not being able to be anything after death, I mean when there are times when I dream of nothing I swear I still see 'black'. It's quite an interesting thing to think about, but not something to obsess over, otherwise you'll find out alittle too quicky what is after death.
😌

I'd like to believe in rebirth, but if I just wink out of existence, then I guess it really makes no difference. I'm a secularist, so I don't really believe in afterlifes....

We just become part of other things...
For instance, animals die, become fertilizer for grass and plants who in turn feed other animals.

Well, tbh the question wasn't "What happens?" but "What would you like to happen?"

As for your thoughts... they may be correct or wrong, none of us knows, but posting them here in this topic kinda sounds like agitation.

The question wasn't "What awaits after death?"
There is a big difference between what you want to believe and what you believe.

If I may quote the op.
This isn't another "Lets flame about the underworld." topic, it has nothing to do with beliefs.
The only thing we're discussing here is one's wishes.
And wishes are a matter of preference, its not like you believe or disbelieve that you like something lol.

I would like to thank for the Human who expressed their wishes on here.
As I mentioned on my op, I simply wanted to know as matter of curiousity what we really want to beileve rather than what you beileve.

I did say that I am still thinking about it, I have thought about it.
As my wish I would like to beileve that there is something different that is beyond the human comprehension.

Thanks

What does it matter what we want? What happens when we die is a fact, and our belief won't alter that. I think all the evidence tells us that when you're dead you're dead, so it's irrelevant what any of us might want.

Yes of course,
but is'nt a human need to just talk about or argue about for the sake of it?
otherwise according you what you have expressed is not point at all to waste any energy to even type.

but I can see your point.

so really you can either not to bother to waste your energy to entertain us which is fine by me, or to at least get on the same boat just for the sake of it.

both is fine.

thanks

I believe there is something after death (I don't know what!), but I would really like there to be nothing. :-S

Well i do believe that ghosts exist, and if scientists were able to prove their existence, then i think that would add some weight to the belief that stuff does happen after death (other than just rotting away in the soil).

If ghosts exist... I want to turn into a NASTY one with chains, blades, fangs and claws.
Hell, I want to be a real messed up monster.

Has anyone ever wondered if what you think is what happens to you after you die? So if you think that you will have 72 virgins, then you will, and if you think that we all sit on clouds playing the harp, then that's what will happen. Perhaps death consists of a physical denaturing and a mental "uprising". You will live on in your own emotions, perceptions...your own reality as you see it. Your mind's energy lives on and creates whatever it wants. You get the idea.

I don't think that, but I was just wondering if anyone here has ever thought about it like that...

In my opinion....

I wouldn't want to start over and have lived in vain, but rather build upon my knowledge after death. I would prefer death to be a transition to the next "level" in my existence in this universe. Also to be with loved ones who rudely departed before me. Those jerks.....

I read all your thoughts after death very seriously.

Mitsuo, I also think that our souls, spirits, go there where we they will feel happiest.
When you dream, you have no age, so I guess the soul goes back to the most happiest period you had in your life. INdeed maybe we continue "living" in a dream onto a next "level".

I believe there is something after death (I don't know what!), but I would really like there to be nothing. :-S
Nothing? I would want there to be something! I really would like to hear some theories about life after death. I'd also like to hear people's experiences when they died, then came back to life. That'd be cool.

Don't say that out loud lol, we have enough terrorism as it is.

I'd also like to hear people's experiences when they died, then came back to life. That'd be cool.
Wait, let me go and gather some experience, in the worst case I'll like it, and remain there lol.

As a human I just think that After my death I feel same what i feel before born. I mean nothing happen, no feeling , a black screen in front of my eyes, brain. I mean I'm nothing. I don't know what it called but i'm finish after my death.

i believe in reincarnation. i believe that everyone chooses his/her life, before they will be born, but when they come to live, they don't know, that they have chosen this live. well, i think everyone has to experience different forms of living. regardless if being human, being a tree or animal..

Hmm, the question is not whether you believe in it or not, its whether you like the idea.
So? What do you say? :D

Actually, there are two questions. One question is in the title of the the thread and is as follows:

What do you want to beileve?

The title, in and of itself, is pretty meaningless. That is so, in that any perceiving soul can and should understand that it is ground on no terms of application range, therefore is freely open to all possible terms--making it so broad in applicable range that it becomes useless as a tool for argumentation of any sorts.

The second question is as follows:

So after death what do you want it to happen?

While we may construe due to general background setting, what the question may be more specifically asking, in actual linguistic terms we again do not have any solid terms given. We can, based on such general bacground setting assume that the questioner is talking about 'what we wish would happen to our conscious awareness after we have died,' yet that is by no means explicitly determinable. The questioner could have just as easily been talking about 'what we wish would happen in human affairs on earth after we have died.' In fact, this interpretation has the most going for it !!

In the OP, some statments are made which are quite totally disconnected from the questions that have been asked. We could, in making assumptions, draw lines between several imagined dots, but they are imagined nevertheless--there is no need whatsoever from within the communicated terms of the OP to address them as being connected in any way in the first place. For that reason, we can strike those statments out; they cancel out, so to speak.

What do I want to believe? I want to believe that by the end of August, I'll have trimmed up my waist size, put on the six-pack look (so the young girls on the beach will still turn their heads as I strut by) and tone up my muscles overall, otherwise. I also want to believe that the little lady will become, therefore, even more enthralled over wanting to believe that she'll be all over me . . . like newly found lovers of a Latin breed of the southern realms. . . yeah. . . that's what I want to believe.

PS: This is not, by any means, an effort to attack or to belittle you personally, thatsme san--I am honest about that. It is, nevertheless, a fully logical and practical example designed to encourage thought and deep consideration in posing questions for this Serious Discussions area. If our OPs are weak, overly broad, and seemingly without clear direction, much of the following posting after such OP, will only reflect the same--I mean, that even happens when an OP is clear, defined, and well thought out, so how much more so, when an OP itself is not. Let's all be careful about that please.

As I get older , I like to plan my ideal afterlife.

I have picked out a "learning" type afterlife. I will be a kind of ball of energy and knowledge. I will be able to travel not only back in time but also able to go forward in time. I will be able to observe only, never able to have an effect or interact, a "watcher".I will be able to say, go back to the day Kennedy was shot and watch all the events of that day from every angle. I will be able to go into Lee Harvy's head and hear his thoughts and know what he was thinking as he pulled the trigger. Able to go back and watch the begining of the earth and life. Watch Jesus and see what he really was like. Just think, a whole eternity to study history. Better yet, to fast forward into the future and see what happens on earth after I die. How will life on earth as we know it end? It will be like watching a neverending movie. Eons and eons to watch future events. I will go back in time and trace my family history and understand secrets of my and my family's past. To find answers to sooooo many unanswered questions. After a zillion years of watching things on earth, my energy/knowledge ball will travel the universe to seek out other planets with life and study them.
There are some down sides, to have to watch horrible things and not be able to do anything about them. It will be a lonely afterlife, no other beings like myself to interact with, just me , myself, and I so to speak. I figure that way, no embarassing face to face meetings with old enemies and I'll be better able to concentrate on learning.
My dream afterlife is still in the design stage. I'm thinking that maybe after millions of years of training and observing, I become a kind of God and get to creat my own world. I'm not sure about that part, seems a bit egotistical to dream of becoming a God?
Just thinking about an afterlife like this makes me fear death a bit less and almost look forward to such an afterlife.

I don't think any evidence points to the idea that once you're dead you're dead. If anything, the evidence points to the contrary, or at least leaves the question wide open. Science is about as imperfect a practice as any other; just because science cannot find the afterlife or fails to fully comprehend the nature of the human experience it does not mean that it doesn't exist. As the old quote goes, "Absence of proof is not proof of absence".

To that end, I think experience and wisdom plays a huge role in understanding what's around us. People in the West don't like to rely on 'primitive' sources of information, we're much more comfortable with our crispy, shiny, modern science with all its doctors, stainless steel tables and instruments and lofty, fuzzy-bearded armchair academics. It just feels more reassuring. However the current education system is clearly a bit of a farce in North America. Listen, memorize, regurgitate, write test, pass/fail, proceed/don't proceed. Repeat until you're a doctor, or at least until you get a degree, a job, and then forget all that you've learned.

Those who have delved deeply into the big questions, the yogis, the mystics, the Buddhists, the Hindus, people who have passed on information sourced from higher states of consciousness through the generations, I think this kind of thinking and writing holds just as much creedence as any textbook. We'd be daft to think that just because they don't have iPods or Pepsi that they don't know what they're talking about.

So without sounding too pompous..., having attempted to do both, that is, study the sciences, the Western philosophers, traditional Christianity, etc. through formal education, and then falling away from that and engaging a more Eastern way of thought through personal pleasure reading, pleasure study, etc., in conjunction with personal experiences of watching people grow, stumble, succeed, fail, get sick, die, etc., I am quite satisfied in believing (to the point of feeling that I know) there is something after death and we all possess a certain inherent, non-denominational spirituality.

edit: by the way, ideas of 'eternity' being just 'a really really really long time', are a little off. Eternity wouldn't be a large amount of chronologically measurable time, it would be more like the complete absence of time and a state of perpetual 'now'. Time is simply a specific activity level in the brain that's largely based on 1) clocks 2) our current dimensional reality 3) consensus
