What do you think about Mr. Trump being summoned to court?

I watched the entire English BBC news report about summoning Mr. Trump, the previous American president to the Manhattan court in America (sadly, my listening and speaking in English are not good, so I didn't understand the speech of the TV reporters completely, and just watched the movie!)

As I heard in the Farsi BBC news later, Mr. Trump has been charged with some crimes that the prosecutor filed a lawsuit against him. As the reporter said, he is the first President of America summoned to court for the first time in history.

What is your opinion in this case? Is he guilty?

If you believe he is not a faulty politician like President Richard Nixon (from 1972 to 1974) in the Watergate scandal, so where the accusations and lawsuits came from?

Yes he's guilty. There's no doubt about that. But since rich and powerful people don't usually get prosecuted for crimes like this, his supporters think it's unfair.
Hopefully this indictment will be the first of many for Trump. There are many more "alleged" crimes that are under investigation.

Hi, madchachi

Approximately, what percent of American people are among his followers and advocates?

Approximately 25%.
(Taking 2016 election as an example of when Trump was most popular, Trump received 46% of the vote and Hillary Clinton received 48%. Clinton received more but due to how the system is set up, Trump won. Only 56% of eligible voters voted in that election. 46% of 56 is 25%).

Had Mr.Trump any record of crime before appears as a candidate for the presidency? I did not know him before this decade and hadn't heard anything about him. Where was he, and why stepped into the political world? I have never attempted to read his biography and even didn't see his name in the list of famous American capitalists like Rockefeller, though he has great wealth.

Not directly but his companies have been charged with fraudulent activities. Most of his wealth came from real estate. But he lies about his wealth so he's not as rich as he portrays. He was well known and famous because he always seeked publicity. Then he was on television on a kind of "reality" game show and became more famous. So he was quite famous in the business and entertainment world.
He had talked about the presidency for many years but nobody really took him seriously. His personal history is too long with too many details to tell here.

The crimes he is being charged with are financial crimes relating to paying for the silence of a video porn actress with whom he committed adultery.
It's not illegal to pay somebody like this but the way he did it was illegal and one of his associates already went to prison for this.

What will be the final of his trial? Do the judges and prosecutor dare to sentence him to internment if his crimes are proven?

As I heard and estimated, he is an influential person in the American government system and has many friends and supporters among officials; this brings doubt about the result of the trial.

I think it's unlikely he will go to prison from this trial. I do hope he will become a convicted felon though.

Here's a summary from BingAI:
Trump is accused of various financial crimes by different authorities, including falsifying business records, tax fraud, grand larceny and scheme conspiracy. Some of these charges are related to his alleged role in hiding hush-money payments to women who claimed to have had affairs with him before the 2016 election. Others are related to his alleged evasion of taxes on employee benefits and other income.

The typical punishment for these crimes depends on the severity of the offense, the amount of money involved, the criminal history of the defendant and other factors. Generally speaking, falsifying business records can be a misdemeanor or a felony, depending on whether it was done with the intent to commit or conceal another crime. The maximum sentence for the felony is four years in prison1. Tax fraud can also be a misdemeanor or a felony, depending on the amount of tax evaded and whether it was willful or negligent. The maximum sentence for the felony is seven years in prison. Grand larceny is a felony that carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison, depending on the value of the property stolen3. Scheme conspiracy is a felony that carries a maximum sentence of four years in prison.

However, these are only the maximum sentences under New York state law. The actual sentence imposed by a judge may be lower or higher, depending on the circumstances of each case and the discretion of the court. Moreover, Trump may also face federal charges for some of his alleged crimes, which could carry different penalties under federal law. For example, federal tax fraud can result in up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each count.

As of now, Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges and has denied any wrongdoing. He has also called the investigations against him politically motivated and a witch hunt. His lawyers have vowed to fight the charges vigorously and have challenged the evidence and the legal basis of the prosecutions.

Thank you for that article, but I don't think he puts his tail in the trap.

He sat on the courthouse chair, silent and sad, and looked around slowly; just like an innocent child against an unfair principal who wanted to punish him faultlessly LOL

If we suppose he is guilty (before the Manhattan court declaration and verdict), we should believe that he is an expert actor who plays his role as the best LOL

Of course, I cannot convict him now due to the accusations the American judiciary attributed to him, but I think in advance; if there was nothing about him, the court did not charge him with the crimes.

He has avoided repercussions for his actions all of his life. So he probably assumes he can continue doing so. Many people believe he has personality disorders especially narcissistic personality disorder (NPD), which is characterized by a grandiose sense of self-importance, a need for excessive admiration, a lack of empathy, and a tendency to exploit others. Some experts have argued that Trump exhibits the signs and symptoms of NPD, such as believing he is superior to others, fantasizing about success, exaggerating his talents and achievements, expecting constant praise and loyalty, failing to recognize others' feelings and needs, taking advantage of others, expressing disdain for those he perceives as inferior, being jealous of others, being easily hurt and offended, having a fragile self-esteem, and appearing tough and unemotional.

So, how could he govern America and half of the world for four years?!
Not very well. Although I suppose there are people who would disagree on that point. There are people who would follow that man until the end of the Earth. It makes no sense to me.

The crimes that Trump were indicted for are for falsifying business records. It's unlikely that even if convicted that he would do any jail time. It would be more likely that he would be fined.

The pending indictment against Trump in the state of Georgia is much more serious, in my opinion. The case about withholding federal documents could snowball out of his control, too. I just hope that the American electorate have enough sense to keep him out of office in 2024.

Why does Mr. Trump not carried by helicopter to the court, and the agents took him in a car through the several streets of the city; when he was not considered a criminal at that time from the point of view of the law, and he was still in the position of an official?

I don't understand the question. He probably doesn't have access to a helicopter or the court doesn't have a place to land one.
By the way, he has not had a position of an official since January 2021.

I did mean, why was he carried to the court like a dangerous criminal with some watchers who surrounded him?

Why didn't the court call him up to come to the court by himself?

Why the American judiciary held such a noisy trial and publicized the probable crimes of a former president that his crimes were not proven yet?

One thing that complicates how he travels is the Secret Service protection he has as a former President. I'm not sure if there is any event that could separate him from his protection. Must be a complicated situation for the agents to deal with.

Oh. Actually that was because he wanted to do it that way. He loves publicity and he thinks doing it this way will make his supporters get upset and give him more money and power. He could have went there quietly out of sight of the cameras.

By the way, he wasn't brought in like a criminal. The security surrounding him was his own protection. "Secret service" are assigned to protect high-ranking government officials and ex-presidents.

As for the trial publicity, that is public information. He is accused of crimes. Not convicted. There are many cases where people are accused of serious crimes and have major trials with much publicity but are not convicted. OJ Simson is one famous example. I don't know if you know him. Michael Jackson is another famous person who went to trial but was not convicted.

Were you under the impression that powerful, influential world leaders need to be intelligent, well-adjusted, upstanding, admirable, non-mentally-deficient human beings?

I would suspect that even a cursory look at history might suggest otherwise.

One's capability of reaching a position of extreme power, wealth, and/or influence is not necessarily directly proportional with one's worth as a human being. In fact, in many cases one might observe that being an unrepentant narcissist, psychopath, sociopath, etc. might indeed lend itself to achieving such lofty heights more than not.

So, should we assume that the manner of transportation was because of security measures and also because Mr. Trump himself was desirous to be overt within the crowd, based on his fame-seeking feeling or probably political intention?

Nevertheless, I don't think Mr. Trump was in one of those five cars!!

I am waiting to see whether you can solve this puzzle, why? LOL

Yes. Security and his desire for fame and politics. He was shown getting out of one of the cars in front of the courthouse. I don't think there is any reason to doubt that.

Yes, he is Mr. Trump who is getting off from one of the five station cars in front of the Manhattan courthouse, but are you sure they are the same five cars that moved from the front of Trump building?

:)

I believe it's most likely the same cars because there were many people and media watching the entire trip, from getting into the car to getting out. Even from a helicopter during the driving. Why do you think it may not be? Is your media saying something about this?
Here's video from the trip end to end but if youtube is blocked in your country you may not be able to see it.

Of course, what I said was not about a suspicious thing.

In some situations, the TV camera in the helicopter could not follow those cars, especially when the cars were near the courthouse. Suddenly, the active camera in the helicopter was switched to the ground camera in front of the court. If I remember well, in that period of time, the cars went out of sight for minutes.

No, I have not heard it from Persian media. (Actually) one of the components of my old satellite receiver has failed, and for about two years, I could not watch Persian channels. I also am not in the mood to read news in Persian or English websites, except a bit. I watch Persian BBC News, orderly, and occasionally the Persian Voice Of America channel.

Of course, I don't believe in all they broadcast, but I sometimes find some entertaining programs and news in these channels.

What I said was a personal assumption, not a sure thing. I also wanted to have humor with you, so I posed it as a puzzle; it was not serious (oh, my nose got long!) LOL
