im waiting to read Battle Royale by Takami Koshun - i ordered from the bookshop about 6 weeks ago and they still havent got it in, and i dont want to start a new book in the meantime....grrrrr

I just finished the 6th book in the Left Behinde series. For fun I'm reading book 9 in the New Jedi Order. I'm also reading "The Japanese Mind" by Robert C Christopher (1983).

Tom Holt "Only Human" (besides some books for a term paper). Holt wrote better stuff, but it's very entertaining.

Book 9, Ronin? I've read all but one of them-- which one is that. And as for me, the only things I read between Dec. 1 and Dec. 24 are music and costuming sites (always glad when Christmas Eve is over)

Right now, I'm almost finished with JIHAD VS MCWORLD by Benjamin Barber. Great insight into the globalization of consumerism and its effects. This is NOT a book about Islam. He uses "jihad" in a generic sense, as he points out frequently. -For example-, in the movie Fight Club, Tyler Durden's "jihad" against modernity was unsuccessful.

Me I'm in into the 3rd in trilogy called 'The Naked God' by Peter Hamilton. Absolutely mind-bending sci-fi, 600 years in the future with over 900 planets colonised by humans. We can remotely control animals by affinity and Earth is just 12 huge buildings called arcologies. The dead are returning to possess the living, trapping the souls within.

First two are:

The Reality Dysfunction
The Nutronium Alchemist

Trust me, I'm well read, but this is the only trilogy I've gone back to for a third read!The Naked God

just finished those two, decided to read them for the 2nd go before i did the hitchikers series again. he was working on a third for dirk before he passed away. you can pick up the first bit of it in a compilation thing, the title escapes me at the moment but i think it had something to do with salmon.

Mmm lots of short stories at the beginning, a little Dirk, about third of book I think. Great reading.

Something about salmon ideed, very Adams. Never mentioned fresh tuna though

Good good choices!!! Neuromancer and Count Zero are amazing books!!!!! Mona Lisa Overdrive is good aswell.. finishes of the Sprawl series nicely.

I'm Struggling to finish The Difference Engine. Its not very good which is a bit of a disappointment seens as the Sprawl books are so good.

I am now reading The Dark Side of Japanese Business, which is very interesting if you've ever been around someone who works for a Japanese business or if you have worked for a Japanese business/company/whatever yourself. It's 3 short stories, and they're indeed very intriguing.

I've just started in on these, so can't really comment intelligently yet. But I'm also very interested in the way business practices there effect people on an individual level so hopefully will come away with some new insights before going again next month.

I finally finished Scandal by Shusaku Endo a couple of months ago?

Definitely one of the best books I've ever read. I strongly recommend reading it.
