Has anyone seen the movie. Did you enjoy it? No, telling us what happened though...going to see it......maybe thise weekend.

yeah and its soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad. The previews don't show its lack of plot. Really the movie was terrible. I'm going to use my friend's assesment because I thought it was particularly funny

This was complete garbage and I have lost respect for anyone that says it was a good movie. It was complete and utter !@#! - no plot, no dialogue, no humour, no surprises.
The funniest part was the credits. After sitting through this #$@, the credits come on, and it says DEDICATED TO MY DAD.
Seriously, if the director of this film took a dump in the toilet and dedicated that to his dad instead, I think his dad would be more proud.

Heh, I think that that review is pretty accurate. What's worse than having had to sit through the movie, though, was having to sit through those awful commercials. Even the previews were bad! I wouldn't even rent it.
I thought that it was bad because of the hardcore cheesy dialogue in most spots, some annoying actors and characters(most of them, actually), and ridiculous special effects (like things that they tried to pass off as possible, but any fool could tell that they aren't). What was good about it were (this is going to sound really jock) the fight at the end and the transformation CG. I thought that they did a good job with the transformations.
And your friend is right about the dedication, Noyhauser. I almost cracked up laughing when I saw that, but I managed to keep it to myself. In summary, I would say that this may not even be worth watching on HBO, etc. when it finally does come out.

Yeah the passing off of stuff as being real, that ticked me off the most. Horses jumping over a chasm? come on, it looked more like santa's reigndeer. IF its truly a story of man vs evil, humans shouldn't be able to do superhuman things.
But I agree the transformation sequences were pretty cool... but that was about it.
Whats really a shame is that the League of Extrordinary Genetleman is actually a better movie than this, and it will do far worse than Van Helsing in sales.

Movie is crap. So sorry to say as I really enjoyed The Mummy as an Indiana Jones-esque type movie, but this sucks! Don't bother! Hugh Jackman is poor, Kate Backinsale is her usual terrible self and the rest are worse (if thats possible).
Save your money and see Kill Bill 2 instead!

I liked the Flying Stuff and the scene where Dracula walked at the wall to where the his two wives were hanging like a bat. The visual effects were good in my opinion but the story sucked big time. I mean talk about combining: Mr. Hyde, Igor, Van Helsing, Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster etc. in one confusing menagerie of characters
. I felt 
insulted by the treatment given to these gothic story classic characters because they are really well written stories.

I thought it was an okay movie. Jackman could have done a better job, but he was okay. The figth between Mr, Hyde and Van Helsing was my fav part of the movie. I always thought Hyde would be a wise *** like he was on the movie. Frankenstein's monster was well done and I liked him the most out of all of them.

I have really been wanting to see League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. My cousin was telling me that it was worth watching, and that was months ago and I still haven't seen it. I'm so far behind. Will I ever catch up? :?

This film alsmost made me cry !!! 
It's just horrible !! lol As playaa said the only part worth is to show "hot" babes...
And even for that it's not worth it...I prefer go to a fashion show at least the entrance is free
As for League of extraordinary gentlemen...well...I almost from my chair when I was watching it ^^'

Well, I don't think "Van Helsing" was horrible, you don't gross 54 million by being bad, but it wasn't spectucular either. As for "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen", THAT was horrible! No wonder Sean Connery was in a pissing match with its director!

To me it looked like an excuse to make a Werewolf vs Vampire vs Frankenstein's Monster's movie. And the only reason I see to put the the archangel Gabriel was to somehow to try and please the religious right-wing. Van Helsing is the archangel Gabriel....in what language?
Do you want to see a good vampire movie? Try Enterview with a Vampire or Bram Stoker's Dracula. In this last one, there at least a more believable Van Helsing, portraied by Anthony Hopkins.
Personally, I think it's the worse movie I saw since a friend made me go, on a dare, to the cinema and watch Santa Clause... in January. I must have been drunk...

Bram Stoker's Dracula is one of my all time favorite movies, and Anthony Hopkins and Gary Oldman are the ones that made that movie good, in my opinion. I've got a feeling Hugh Jackman would just be terrible as Van Helsing after me knowing Hopkins as Van Helsing for so long. Especially now that I've heard everyone's comments...yikes.

I think we should always judge for ourselves, so I would advise you to go, because this movie isn't even near the quality of the two movies I've referenced before, so I don't think there is the danger of tarnishing them; and if you don't take it too seriously, you might find it mildly entertaining. If you get drunk, you might even find it amusing.
Though if you want to see a good action movie, check out Kill Bill, part 2. That's a great movie.

IMO Legendary of Extradionary Gentlemen was pretty good. That Immortal was BAD! and Dr.Jeckle and mr.hyde were tight. Sean connary was good as well with the shooting. :?

Well, now that you mention it, there IS a Van Helsing animated prequel on the way (Hugh Jackman provides the voice of VH) along with a video game. I think there's even gonna be a VH attraction at Universal Studios down in Florida! So who says this was a bomb?

I don't think anyone was saying it was a bomb... they're saying it isn't very good. Plenty of movies I personally thought were terrible made HUGE amounts of money...
All those attractions and such, though, had to have been planned far in advance of the movie's release, I would think. Therefore, that's all based on hope that the movie will be a blockbuster... I'm very curious to see how VH fares in its second week. If the talk here is a true indication of "word of mouth" travelling around the country, I'd imagine the numbers would be down significantly...
I was originally planning to see VH, but after seeing the director interviewed for something called "The Twenty", shown in Regal Theatres in my area prior to the movie previews and feature itself, alarm bells went off as he talked about how he just borrowed blocking for scenes from the classic monster movies... and then there was the scene with Helsing getting gadgets in the previews which looked completely ripped off from every Bond movie ever made (Helsing sees the Gatling Gun in action and quipps, "How do I get one of those?").
Sadly, with ticket prices at the levels they are, I can't be satisfied with a movie being a "light romp" or "great fun, even though it has weaknesses"... for close to $10 a pop, these movie companies have to hit a towering home run to keep me from leaving the cineplex disappointed.
Quite a shame, really...
