Teeth Whitener: Have You Tried It ?

And recently many Americans have become obsessed with teeth whitening.

O, one thing about the whitener, is it safe in the long term ?

I've never used it. My cousin used it when she was a kid and something went wrong and it permanently stained her teeth.

Stories like this give me the chills. I once tried a collgate whitener while visiting China. I normally would have shunned the thought of it, but since I was in China, I told myself, "what the heck. If 1.3 billion people are trying it, it must be safe, right ?"

I used to have good teeth despite all my coffee and cigarette intake. Over so many years, what used to be fairly white has turned a tad of a light chiffon. After about a week of application, I was able to take out most of the coffee stains. But my wife was afraid my teeth might get brittle further down. Have you ever tried whitening ? Do you think it's safe ? Tell me what you think.

My teeth are beige coloured (have been since I was a kid) and I'm comfortable with that so No, and I don't plan on it either because I don't need to feel like I have "perfect teeth" just to fit the image society thinks I should have. Plus, our family dentist told my mother that he does not reccomend them because they do damage your gums over time and the whitening effects vary person to person and may not even work on some.

I use it, and it helps if u use it for a few weeks....but after that I switch back to normal toothpaste...it's just to maintain the white a bit

Once every year or two I'll use a pack of White Strips, which work for quite a few shades, but I had to stop right before my root canal. I'll do them again about three months before my wedding, probably (and hopefully I'll have enough time between now and then to get off the coffee and colas!).
