ok so i watched Hero in the cinema the other day and was enjoying seeing the excellent film on the big screen having already seen it several times before.

this is where anyone who hasnt seen the movie should quit reading and leave this thread

near the end of the film where the whole thing is comming to conclusion im am stunned to read these words across the screen "let me give you these 2 words before you go" or whatever he said. so after immediatly giving the screen the finger with both hands, i spent the next several minutes of the movie trying to figure out what they could have possibly put in place of "all under heaven" which is 3 words by the way. nothing worthy came to mind, so im pretty much stuck waiting with a sense of forboding.
finally the time comes for jet li to tell the emporer the words and they are propably the most disappointing to words ive ever read. he said "our land" our land!?!? what i had never thought two words could ruin an entire movie but it happened. something so great was turned to crap becuase of two words. maybe i expected too much, but changing "all under heaven" to "our land" is just rediculous and i cant see a reason for it at all. the two phrases have little in commen with each other as far as meaning goes and so switching one for the other at such a pivotal point in the movie changes its entire meaning drasticly.
i was shocked, i just sat there staring at the screen the rest of the time, and was fairly mad by the time i left the theater. i honestly wanted my money back, i felt robbed of a movie all for two little words. so save your money, and if you havent seen hero, yet still read this whole thing, then download the MHK version or at least go in knowing when that part comes he wrote "all under heaven" in the sand.

okay I am gonna say something about this film
I know,it is irrelevant to your topic...but...

when this film was shown in China,
it was angrily bashed by many Chinese people.
mainly because it distorted the history
in the film, the King of Qin is a good person,
but in real history he is well known as a brutal emperor
and many other things....

not just the film made people angry, but things said by one of the actors after the film was shown,
Tony Leung said he agrees with what the chairman Deng Xiaoping did in the June 4th 1989 incident, Deng sent army to quash the students who were fighting for democracy.
whats he smoking?

Ha HA!

Now I'm glad I saw it in Japan! Even if I had to suffer through subtitles.

Man, that is a lousy translation.

In Hero, Qin Shi Huangdi is a good person? :D I saw the movie almost a year ago and I don't think that my memory is failing me, but I didn't got that feeling. Maybe is because I know a bit about history and what type of ruler Qin was.
If people feel that if power=good and more power= more good, then I guess the guy was a living saint. Nevermind the millions he killed or the intellectuals he buried alive, just for the heck of it.

I dont think he is a good person in the movie. It says he was ruthless. But jet li doesnt kill him so there will be peace.

many critics says the director was trying to make it like:
Emperor Qin had made lots of mistakes, but he did so much more good things for the country
