Is Trump ruining America's reputation and influence abroad?

Someone much worse than Trump will be running in the 2024 election, or at least the 2028 one (infrastructure takes time!). Trump set up the blueprint for how to abuse everything in government. Luckily Trump was simply a dummy indulging his ego and pocketbook. The next guy (and it will definitely be a guy) will be much smarter and power hungry. Ted Cruz would, but he's ugly and lacks any charisma, but that new guy, Josh Hawley, seems to have the look, the ambition, and absence of ethics necessary to be the guy who breaks American democracy.

Hope so. As you say though somebody worse could come along.

This can not happen. If the supervisor system of presidency election of America have had a good filtering, the unsuitable candidates can not come up. The organization should study the candidates' record and personality and reject those who consider the presidency responsibility as an individual playground.
This is not particular to America but all the countries of the world should have such the filtering system to reject the unfit candidates.

Another issue is that the kingdom systems that exist in some countries like Saudi Arabia should be abolished. Kingdom system is not matched with nowadays choice of the nations. The kings are the self- centered rulers who pay no attention to the will and value of people. A considerable number of governments in the world need to be refined as the Kingdom regimes.

England made a wisely decision! As it felt the world is going toward a global revolution versus monarchy regimes it changed its government system immediately. Apparently, the royal family abdicated governing and devolved the government to the the prime ministers. How wisely plan and how nice foreseeing; a hidden governing in silence!! The same monarchy system that is behind a prime minister and the House of Commons!

However, a supervision system in America can prevent the characters like Mr. Trump to come up in the presidency scene.

There is no such system. Of course there is a de facto system in that the two major parties have their own internal politics. But that can be subverted as we've seen. They did not view Trump as a serious candidate until it was too late. More importantly the funding decisions of super rich donors have the greatest impact on who becomes a candidate. Trump was backed by the Mercer family who fueled his candidacy and the rise of misinformation that supported it.

I never knew about Mercer, thanks for sharing that piece of info. It appears he also supported the Leave EU movement and Nigel Farage in the UK.
