So I've almost Finished my Japanese 101 Unit

So i just had a 2 hour test today and have 1 last speaking test next week for Introductory Japanese I. I haven't fully comprehend all the particles and grammar I have learned in this unit. I have trouble making sentences, but can read sentences and understand most of the time about 80%-90% of it. Now my question is, if this is normal for all japanese learners, the more i progress the easier it will be to understand and comprehend, correct?
we were taught roughly 700 vocab words and also the particles i have learned are:
は、の、が、も、と、に、で、を、から、まで

It is completely normal to understand more (passive) than you can produce (active). You need to directly practice speaking and writing - hopefully you get some chances to do that in class, also see if there are some drills or something in your textbook (or ask your teacher to give you some extra exercises).

Keep at it. Language learning rewards steady practice, and things that seem difficult now will become second-nature with time. The worst possible thing you can do is take a break, so try to keep up with some regular revision over the holidays, too.

I am starting my degree by doing it through distance education. Since I live in Gold Coast and the university campus is in Sydney, hours apart from each other. I'm doing it through distance to see if i can study the language without having problems and stress. Maybe after 6months to 1 year ill attend campus to finish the rest of the degree.

Also we had no textbook as all the material i think is provided and written by the university, maybe in the harder units there'll be textbooks but i dont think intro units need them.
