surely, japanese must have similes too? how do they work?

"she's as pretty as a princess"
"her eyes were like diamonds"

Etc...

what's the japanese rule for sumiles... like english needs "liek" or "as" thanks!

In this case, "as" is 「xxxのよう/xxx no you」 in Japanese.

"she's as pretty as a princess"
「彼女はお姫様のように可愛い」
Kanojo ha Ohime-sama no you ni kawaii.

"her eyes were like diamonds"
「彼女の瞳はダイアモンドのようだった」
Kanojo no Hitomi ha diamond no you datta.

Japanese simile.
「彼女は猫の目のように変わる」
Kanojo ha Neko no Me no you ni Kawaru.
She is as changeable as cat's eyes.

This is ....
"She is as changeable as a weathercock."
in English. 😊
