Rentrer en Soi

Very good review. 👍 I swear Satsuki could pass for a soprano. He puts many of the sopranos in my chorus to shame. Not to mention the boys...


Tonight was a bit strange. My neighbor came over to fix a problem with our dvd player, and I had left my Rentrer en Soi dvd in there. He pulled it out and said, "What is this thing with a skull on it?" and gave my mom this weird look. He opened the cd case and read all the members names outloud, "shun, ryo, Satsuki, Mika, Takumi..." and just sat there staring at it like it was going to bite him. XD I don't think he understands/appreciates my musical tastes. Or feminine looking men.
 
ok, sorry about that... I put up the PROTOPLASM page scan in my previous post. ^^;

When I first woke up yesterday morning *cough 4:30 in the afternoon XD* I listened to the cd again.... while still in bed half asleep while everything was quiet and peaceful... ok... I cried a lot that time... not cause the songs moved me this time but cause Rentrer en Soi is gone. T_____T I tried to listen as a hardcore old fan and a little less open minded... really only 5 songs fit my criteria as worthwhile tracks for me as an old ReS fan... when I did that. Mawaru, PROTOPLASM, Strawberry Oblaat, Karasuiro no Taiji, and Binetsuka. JUDE almost made it on the list. There's too much greatness in the song for me to be bitter forever... haha. That song is really growing on me like tumor... ahaha. Maybe in 20 more listens I'll be able to get past those parts entirely and it'll be on the special list. Their heavy songs are not like older heavy ReS at all... I dunno... I'm starting to miss ReS after listening like that... the new RES is really great and promising but the songs I mentioned were the only ones that really felt special and had that ReS uniqueness to me. Please don't leave ReS... stay with me forever. T_T I wish I wouldn't have done that... I've been in a mood since and who knows if I'll ever be able to appreciate the other songs I liked before... I wish I wasn't sick and had better things to do with myself then think too much on things... haha.

I have a question actually... umm... anyone know what the LE+DD might mean in 分裂LE+DD人格... I've been ponder that forever... haha... Bunrestu LE+DD Jinkaku means "Split LE+DD Personality" right? But what the hell does the LE+DD mean... maybe it's abbreviations for mental disorders?I thought DD might be Dissociative Disorder and LE I have no clue... I can't think of anything for that. Any ideas?

@Kinsao: You liked Gedoku magai ni SUICIDE? o_O Ughh.... I think that is quickly becoming my least favorite track... I almost always skip it. It's starting to disgust me. -_-;;; I guess it's a matter of preference. *shrugs*

Umm... but I really like this album! ☝ Maybe it's because I was never a hardcore ReS fan... I only got to love Astre no Ito and Kein no Hitsugi, those 2 and their work since then... I have older songs than that but they never really struck me before, only Astre and Kein and following... perhaps that's the reason. :?

Obviously some songs off this album are better than others, but taken all in all I love it!

I made my full reviews today and submitted, so maybe one day I'll have a link for them.

Oh, I like that one! Misemonogoya is the one that I don't like! 😊 But Binetsu etc etc is one of my faves, as is PROTOPLASM. 😍 And 窶｢ﾂｪ窶氾ｴLE+DDﾂ人ﾅ?i is great, too! 👍

That made me giggle! :giggle: although I can't imagine being around people who would give a funny look just from seeing a DVD/CD with a skull on it - I have gazillions of skulls about the place... they fall out of cupboards! :D (no, really!) Hmm, but maybe he thought it belonged to your mom! Ah, was he saying the names and staring oddly because they are men's names but look feminine? Bahhh! :cautious: :LOL:
 
Ah well no worries. Shortly after I made that post I had the brilliant revelation. It was like a sign from heavens. Blinding light and angels singing and a voice telling me what to do... all coming from seemingly nowhere. I'm talking the whole enchilada people! haha jk... anyway... the marvellous idea I had was to ask Satsuki what it meant. Brilliantly simple solution, don't you think? So perhaps we will know soon... if the little man replies that is... I should have included a picture of a slice of apple pie for incentive... XDDD

I don't like Misemonogoya either. whew, what a relief. I'm not alone. I like some of the guitar parts but not only do I keep hearing the melody for Diru's Jessica (I swear the chorus you can't help but do the Kyo foot pumping thing he does in Jessica... XD) but I realized why I don't like the rest of it... cause it's also in a weird way the melody of a song by Gazette... I think it's Miseinen but I'm too lazy to listen to check right now. It's like if you took those two song put them through a blender it would be Misemongoya... and I discover this just when I was starting to accept it for what it is. I only listen to that song for the guitar bits I liked... stupid reason I know. XD

They don't look feminine to me at all in the album... ☝ maybe he was looking weirdly cause their faces are all distorted and cracked up... :? :D
 
Okay, maybe I shouldn't have used the word 'feminine', I was thinking of old ReS. :sorry: Perhaps they looked..'different from your everyday 7 eleven worker'? Meh, I don't know, all I know was that it was really strange, seeing my neighbor go through the cd case with such purpose, such interest. (I don't know why the skulls would bring attention, since his daughter runs around in Marilyn Manson t-shirts. o_O) maybe it has something to do with that there's a building named Satsuki near here. And my mother quickly made sure he knew it was my cd, that her daughter was the one with strange taste. :D


I'd say my favorite songs from the album are the two singles, Protoplasm and ﾃｩﾃｫﾂ色窶堙娯?佚卩ｽ邃｢, Strawberry Oblaat, and 窶｢ﾂｪ窶氾ｴLE+DDﾂ人ﾅ?i. When I first heard the LE+DD song on the dvd, I thought "What a great song!" 🕺 Yeah, so those songs really stuck out to me.

I just listened to ﾅ陳ｩﾂ青｢窶｢ﾂｨﾂ渉ｬ窶ｰﾂｮ, and it does seem like a blend of Jessica and Miseinen. It's strange, I'd listen to a couple seconds of Jessica, then I'd click and listen to ﾅ陳ｩﾂ青｢窶｢ﾂｨﾂ渉ｬ窶ｰﾂｮ, and it would actually fit with the rythm.

I'd have to say that there were some songs where it sounded like it was from a different band. ☝
 
i only listened to the album once, i'll listen to it more times for sure. but for now, as i've said before, sounds very very like dir en grey because of the screaming and whispering. for now the song for me is Protoplasm, nicely done. sometimes it takes a while to fully enjoy albums like these because the songs are of the same genre in a way, but that's what makes this album complete by being heavy through out. i'll say for now they had the courage to make a change in their music and i think it's paying off, it's well done as it's their first "heavy" album. despite the similarities to diru, it has some rentrer en soi in it that makes their songs rentrer en soi.

HAHHAHA did you order it from cdjapan? if so... girl... you gotta get it somewhere else -_- you dont have luck with cdjapan.. you never got your winter romantic from them huh?? i hope they refund your money =(
 
Well, I got my copy of the album yesterday. I've only listened to it a few times but.. wow! Totally nothing like Sphire Croid. It's really good, great, wonderful, awesome... but it kinda makes me miss the old RES style. =(

Also, kinda random but, I adopted a dog from the pound yesterday, a femal husky, and I named her Mika! I didn't realize it then, but I guess I kinda named her after Mika-san. XD

Anyways, I'm working on ripping the PVs from the DVD and uploading them through megaupload... my laptop just takes forever to upload anything though. =____=

o.o! I would of thought that you would of gotten yours first seeing as how you live in california and it arrives in San Fransisco. Have you checked the order status that you got in the email if you ordered yours from cdjapan?

I got my copy today and the album is pretty good, though of course there are a few areas that are in need of improvement. Satsuki's vocals are mixed too low on some songs and the drums could have been mixed so that they hit a little harder (sometimes the drums seem to sound muffled under the guitars). Track #6 is probably the only one I don't like...not because its jazzy (Jazz = <3), but it seems out of place and I think it could have been excuted differently if they were going for a Jazzy theme.

I'll wait til the album sinks in before I judge it any further, but overall its really good.

So far, the standout tracks for me are: (too tired to get the actual names XD)

#3, 5,7,9,10,11,12

I'd love ReS to go back to their old style, but I think they're trying to find a balance between the "new" and the "old." I expect them to have a more "solid" sound on their next release.. They definitely have the skills necessary! :)

hard to say, but i think they probably won't go back to the old style. I was a litle surprised of their change too, given i really like what they did in Sphire Croid, their best work during the visual days.
 
I would love for them to go back to their old style too... I really miss their old sound. It was so special. T___T I have to say some of their best works are on this album though... like PROTOPLASM, Karasuiro no Taiji, and Binetsuka. They have really improved as musicians too... even if I don't like the style as much.

I love that song PKK (is too lazy to type out the name of it) I listen to it over and over and over again and bug everyone with it because they tell me I should listen to other stuff.

I miss their old style too, but every band had to change their style at some point in time :-)
 
A part of me thinks that Yukari really influenced their older style a lot. Rentrer en Soi did sound a lot like Baiser (at least to me). It seems that once he left, their style changed quite a bit (from Astre no Ito/Kein no Hitsugi straight to Protoplasm).

To me, it sounds like they wanted to make this change, since now they're able to do what they'd like now that they produce their own music. ^^

Just my thoughts. I really like their new sound.

Edit: And I'm really not sure how I have this username, instead of my kwissipie one... but oh well.
 
Oh man... isnt that song beautiful? so touching... it completely attacks my heart... T___T Riyko... you play bass right? Or am I thinking of someone else in this thread (other then myself of course... XD) or perhaps I'm losing my mind and I'm the only bassist to survive this forum... T_T XD ...I'm trying to figure out the bass tabs for 疑裸偽裸 ...maybe you can help me out? My tab skills are a bit questionable... XD

I'm almost finished romanizing JUDE and 精神死１３度目 (why am I working backwards? I just noticed that... XD well... I'm working on them all similtaneously but I guess I'm finishing those quicker... haha) Does anyone need Karasuiro no Taiji... I finished it forever ago and realized I never did post it. >___<

I got the cd/dvd one..I think it's good cd overall ee I must listen to it a bit more before I can comment fully but so far it's seems good I can't compare it to their older things because I understand they changed alot so yea..but the jazzy song dunno the name of it (bad with names) XD it surprised me hehe I was like its jazzy song?.. weird but it's jrock so you always get surprises in different styles of music which makes it great.. I did watch the dvd too I like protoplasm and others pv's good too except for the flashing and stuff it looks fun tho I wanna see them live Rentrer en soi come to america!!!please..

I think alot of people want Rentrer en Soi to come to america, but are afraid to ask for them to come to the US because their might not be alot of people who'll be at the concerts
