I love your rooster Indiana Gardener ! I used to have a rooster like that when i was a kid, i used to keep a lot of small bantam chickens in the past, i really miss the chickens sometimes though.
I do have a small garden at the back of my house but it is a very small garden and i know if i kept chickens they would destroy the lawn in the garden which i know my fiance would not be very happy about "sigh".
So for now i just have to deal with not being able to keep chickens- if i could find the space to keep them though, then i would have some chickens for sure, they are really nice animals and make great pets .
I hate those microchips. We removed many that were covered in thick scar tissue that became tumors. They can move from there original location as well. The microchip companies came up with a fix, the basically barbed the chips so they can't move, but that causes irritation which causes the scar tissue which then causes the tumor. I know it is a requirement to get your pet in Japan. I am happy that you are taking her, many people would just leave them....

You have me worried now about the chip now but the Japanese option is absent, as usual!
When she was a kitten we had her desexed, and the vet pushed for the chip, I said no thank you.
She was tatooed inside the ear to show she had been desexed which I also thought was cruel, but I guess under anathestic, she didn't feel it..
Bringing her to Japan is going to be the number one inconvenience. She will go into a good cattery for a good few weeks in Cairns which will be difficult for us, and then she will fly to Narita.. That's a long way from Kyoto so it shall have to be a Sinkansen ride to Tokyo to pick her up and bring her back to Kyoto..
We don't have direct flights from Cairns to Osaka with an airline who carries animals.. Only QANTAS carries them from Cairns and they only fly to Narita from here..
We will then smuggle her into a monthly apartment which we need to have for a base until we find a house, get a car, etc.
Fun times ahead.. Fourth time lucky!
We thought about our options, and honestly, she really is aprt of us and giving her away would have broken our hearts.. The never knowing and notseeing her would be with us for life..

If you think having one or two individual pets chipped is bad, you should hear what the US wants to do... chip every single animal counted as livestock. No matter if it's a farm with thousands or a backyard hobby person who has a few fowl, or even just one pet rabbit or a single horse.
Can you imagine what the cost of chipping each animal combined with the hassle of monitoring the animals will do to food prices?
If passed, it will bring US agriculture and the livestock exhibition hobby to its knees.
Anyone in the US who cares about their food prices, or especially if they farm or just have pets, should voice their opposition of "NAIS" (National Animal Identification System) to their state representatives.

Well, we can have such dogs, to my knowledge, but since a few years they have to have a "Maulkorb" (whats that in english, please? The safety something over their mouth. . .) and also have to be on leads outside.
This law came because of several severe attacks on people (also children).
Its not only for this kind of dog, but I don't know the others at present.
I think its for all kinds of dogs, that are also used for fightings.
They are supposed to be in general unpredictable after all that.
