Hi guys! AHmm..the title says so..Can you give me some famous and still active bands who have great songs? Im not a Japanese national actually but I want to hear some great music of bands from Japan..

Hikashu (ﾆ智ﾆ谷ﾆ歎ﾆ停?ｦﾂーﾂ） is one of the most "alternative" bands Japan has to offer IMO. Their CD, "Tenten (窶彎ﾂ々)" is a masterpiece, and I don't use that term lightly. 99% of this CD is improvisation, yet, it does not fall into that "OK, it sounds like THEY are having fun..." trap. It truly ROCKS!

They've been at it for some 30 years and their style is really uncategorizable.
They do not wear makeup. If you are up for music that is eccentric yet coherent, in other words NOT eccentric just for the sake of being eccentric, I highly, highly recommend Hikashu.

Their earlier stuff is heavy on electronic instruments (they were unfairly labeled "Techno-pop" for that back then) but the recent stuff, which I prefer, is more organic with live instruments.
