ya gackt is considered visual kei. but i think he was more VR when he was in Malice Mizer and in the Mizerable single. now he is more pop-ish but i continue to love him and his works...

I think Vanilla is pretty dang poppy! I love that song, in fact I wish these speakers at work were working so I could listen to it right now lol. Yeah we have a lot of pics of despa with no makeup. I have a lot of gazette as well.

How can you call Gackt pop and still sleep at night? 
"Papa lapped a pap lopped" Not pop. "Speed Master" SOOOOO not pop. "Black Stone" STILL not pop. Even his "pretty" songs aren't pop. "Sayonara" Not pop. "Last Song" So unbelievably not pop.
Pop is PuffyAmiYumi, Ayumi Hamasaki, TWO-MIX, See Saw, etc. NOT GACKT. He ain't pop. :21:

What do you consider vanilla?
I think that a lot of musicians and bands dont always have to fall under one genre of music. My band has some poppy songs, some grunge songs, even some blues sounding stuff. Most bands tend to have a few different sounds to them. I don't know why it would be a bad thing to consider Vanilla pop, they even have vanilla flavored pop lol. It's such a catchy poppy sounding tune!

I do listen to hard rock, thank you! Rock and hard rock aren't the same. I listen to Rammstein for crying out loud! Do I think Gackt is Rammstein? F**KING HELL NO. He's just NOT POP!!!

Just because there is guitar and bass in the song doesn't mean a song can't be pop.
Pop music is generally described as very commercial friendly, marketable and memorable, with either vocals, lyrics, instruments, or a combination of all three creating catchy choruses or verses. Pop music is also known for its ability to attract listeners through its versatile sound since it pulls from a plethora of musical influences. It can be also fair to say that pop music is predominantly image driven, especially through the subject matter of the lyrics, live performances, music videos, and other forms of exposure which makes it favourable and unfavourable to whoever is the listener.
To me that seems pretty Gackt. Pop doesn't have to be like Britney Spears. Pop can be a sub genre to Rock, Country, R&B, anything really.

Like I said, pop isnt just boy bands like backstreet boys, or girl solo acts like pink or whoever you want to put in the bubble gum pop genre. Who really cares if someone thinks Gackt is pop? I mean it's not that far off, if someone said he was metal or punk, now I might think otherwise haha.

It should be working now. I accidentally had ftp in it instead of http sorry! I have one of Aoi with no makeup, it used to be my avatar. I don't have it uploaded on my web page, so I will post it later. He looks pretty much the same to me, he usually only wears a little eye makeup, so it's not that drastic of a change.

I don't think I'd go ape. I just think that metal and pop don't mix as easily as pop and other genres. Why do you get so worked up over crap? I don't understand it. Relax, I don't care if you think he isn't pop. I was just stating my reasons for thinking sometimes he is.

I think Karyu is so much better looking without makeup. Hizumi is so cute without makeup, and Tsukasa is always good no matter what. I wish we got more pics with them!

Pop really in this day and age is what you hear when you listen to a top 40 radio station. You will hear a mix of different songs ranging in style from rap, to rock, to r&b, but it's all considered pop music. I can't believe you'd get upset on something so simple, Gackt is SO pop it's ridiculous how pop he is, haha!
