Yes please! I would like to translate a statement inspired from an interview with Bruce Lee. He said "you have to be like water my friend". I would like to know how to write (and pronunce) the imperative form of "become water".Need a word or phrase translated? Feel free to ask.
Many bilingual people on this forum would be more than happy to help beginners with questions about Japanese vocabulary. Even grammar questions.
What word or phrase would anyone like translated into Japanese or English?
Domo arigato <bow>水になれ。
Mizu ni nare.
水になるのだ。
Mizu ni naru no da.
水になることだ。
Mizu ni naru koto da.
Forgive my ignorance but what is the difference in meaningand feeling among the three?水になれ。
Mizu ni nare.
水になるのだ。
Mizu ni naru no da.
水になることだ。
Mizu ni naru koto da.
Thank you, you have been very helpful. I do not speak Japanese (yet) but I have my exam for black belt in Shotokan Karate this week and have been thinking about what to embroider on my belt. "Become water" is the motto I have been trying to live byThe first one is the most common imperative form. The second has a nuance of "advice" something like from master to pupil, and the last one works as an answer to a question "What I should do?", as in Bruce Lee replied in the interview.

Again, domo arigato <bow>
because that would be an imitation. The idea is not to imitate the essence of water but to become it. My fellow karateka has "mi d like water" for his belt, which is also good but different in philosophy I think. I too must strive to become adaptable while retaining my nature. As a biologist I would add we are mostly composed of water to begin with and water is life, but that leads to much longer conversation and deeper meaning. I'm not entirerly certain I've explaind myself....Why not "become like water"?
Are you familiar with Japanese actors and male idols? He's just shouting that an actor and idle are cool.Probaly not the place to ask, but please someone translate this! I need to know!!!
ぼっち means 一人ぼっち. Have you ever heard あるあるネタ?Hey,
I've stumbled upon this hashtag on twitter #ぼっちあるある Does anyone know what it could mean?
Great, that helps a lot. Thank you so much!!!Yes, you got the meaning of あるあるネタ right. ぼっち is a young people's slang for 一人ぼっち, and ぼっちあるある means あるあるネタ of 一人ぼっち, i.e., possible stories of people in solitude/with no friends .
