"Baby Car" is just a car for babies, not a contraction of "baby carrier". Quite honestly, if I heard "baby carrier" I would never imagine anything with wheels. That would be a "stroller" or a "pram".
English is not my mother tongue and had no idea that the word shortening means a certain type of fat. You learn something new every day ^^ But according to wikipedia the word shortening can actually be used as an synonym to clipping, which is the more correct term to use apparently.
However, as a father of two lovely kids I do know the difference between baby carrier and baby carriage. Just do a Google-search for the latter and you will definitely see stuff with wheels
