Hi there,
I'm a karate Sensei and a new Japanese learner and a big fan of the Book of 5 Rings. Im struggling to find how the line 'understand the way broadly and see it in everything' was originally written. It's found in the section titled 'the benefits of two characters reading "strategy" found in the earth section.
Someone has previously suggested this:

道を廣くしれば、物ごとに出合事也。

I don't have the knowledge (particularly in kobun) to find it. Any help is appreciated:)

Hi there,

Can anyone help me find a PDF of 'The book of five rings' as it was classical written?

Thanks:)

If you can't google it in modern Japanese it makes me wonder what you hope to derive from the original....

When speaking English it is quite alright to refer to yourself as a karate "teacher".

The translation you got is a part of the sentence. The original full sentence is 其道にあらざるといへども、道を廣くしれば、物ごとに出合事也。.

You can see the entire books both in original classical Japanese and modern Japanese translation in the following site.
