Musashi quote Translation

Hi can anyone translate a quote from Musashi Miyamoto for me? "Today is victory over yourself of yesterday; tomorrow is your victory over lesser men." i would prefer it in 2 parts if that is possible so i can have it on 2 wall scrolls. Thanks

Not really "translating" when you just go back to the original. From here
緩々と思い、この法を行うこと、武士の役なりと心得て、**今日は昨日の我れに勝ち、明日は下手に勝ち、** 後は上手に勝つと思い、この書き物のごとくにして、少しもわきの道へ心行かざるように思うべし。

It's the bit between the asterisks, and you can split the phrase into two where the comma is. (although it's somewhat taking the phrases out of context imo).

Thanks for your help . i am decorating a wall in my home and i want 2 scrolls hanging down with a decorative samurai sword in the middle..
Can the phrase be split up like this?

勝ち shows that it's just a clause, not a complete sentence. I would use 明日は下手に勝つ instead. Also, you need to hang 今日は昨日の我れに勝ち scroll on the right side, and 明日は下手に勝つ on the left.
