Hello all! Thanks for all the priceless information and personal stories shared in this thread, it's been extremely useful.
I decided to sign up and add a post myself regarding the university recommendation process, since I am in the middle of it (here's hope it goes well...).
Basically,
I am not sure what additional steps lay ahead of me.
I applied to Sokendai University, and got formally accepted by the professor. I have since had an interview with him and discussed my research proposal so that it fits his current research. I was contacted by an assistant professor to arrange for an interview with a commitee (basically, my prospect professor and 3 more experts in the field).
I am not sure about:
1) What other decision-making steps lay ahead?
2) What kind of interview should I expect? Is it usually research proposal-oriented with hard questions?
3) Should I expect the very professor I talked with to ask hard questions as well?
I applied for the embassy recommendation MEXT previously and the interview was very laidback, we discussed general stuff about life in Japan, and barely touched my research proposal at all. Hence I am curious as to how the university recommendation interview might differ.
Sorry for such a long post. Thank you very much in advance!!
